Well if it wont kill tape ,round ,hook,or whip worm then what will i dont need a prentive med i need something that will kill it . And as far as i know heart worm is totally different but thanks anyway.
Re: Worming medicine
john Williams, PPO and Drontal plus will take care of most of your worm problems, they are good broad spectrum wormers, They will not prevent heart worms and I didn't want anyone to treat their dog with them and then be under the impression that heartworms could not be contracted. Equimax is a heartworm preventive and a tapeworm eradicator, but I did not want anyone to be under the impression that Equimax will kill hook, whip, or round worms. The best way to worm is to have some idea of what worms you are dealing with and then treat for the specific parasite. What type of worm are you trying to kill at this time?

What can you folks tell me about using the Safe-guard dewormer for goats? The ingredient is fenbendazole [same as Panacur ] and will get rounds, hooks, whips and one type of tapes.
On the bottle it recomends giving .6 ml per 25 lbs. [for a goat ]. Are you using that same amount ratio for a dog? I know with Panacur you are supposed to give it 3 days in a row.Are you using this once or 3 days in a row? For a goat it looks like it's just a one dose.

I use Paratak Plus from Vet N Pet http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/PARATP10KG100 Looks like a bottle of 100 will run about $1.60 a pill. Sometimes they put it on sale and I've gotten them for $1.35 a pill. I can't recommend other retailers but Vet N Pet has always been great to deal with. I ordered a bottle a few years ago and it wasn't listed as back ordered but it was. They emailed me and asked me how many I needed till they got them in. They sent me what I needed free of charge and 5 days later my order arrived. I could have waited had I known it would be that quick to fill but it says a lot about how they operate. Top notch...

Re: Worming medicine
If you use the Equimax that has two ingredients it will kill all worms. The cheaper Equimax (about $4.00 per tube cheaper) with just one ingredient only gets some.
When you go to a Vet for worming, he usually gives a shot of Ivermectin and that is Equimax main ingredient for what I call normal worms. The second ingredient gets the tapes, etc.
Its hard to overdose with Ivermectin and I give a whole click of Equimax to each dog on a folded piece of bread. That is a lot of it. it'll get them all at that dose.
There is a lot written about this that is far more technical on various sites.

Same here
My vet told me to give a 220 # dose because a dogs system is so much faster than a horse. Should be 6 doses in a tube. Great stuff!
