Re: HOW TO STOP MALES FROM FIGHTING IN KENNEL???
thanks everyone. i ve got the problem fixed. me having a female in heat is not helping either. they are seperated and want sale them because #1 got problem solved. #2 you really cant find hounds at the quality just any time you want. in 20 years ive had good, bad and the ugly and what these hounds can do in the field not many can do or want. some call it a fault but that is the only fault they have and all hounds have faults and i atleast have the fault corrected and when i take them out it is a sight to see what and how they do the rabbits. everyone that watches them in person wants to have pups out of them. The bottom line is this: its a fault that has been fixed and im moving on. thanks for all the good idea;s that was sent to me. it really helped.thanks to all that help in this issue.-mac

I have two males currently in a pen together and they are 8 months old. One of them is larger and the other more aggressive. Had some nasty fights for awhile till I happened to be there at the time and was able to grab their collars while fighting and pull each one down on his back and holler NO! I took the role as boss and it seem to have worked. Now when I hear a growl I holler NO and they shut right up. You have to be careful and not get dog bit, kind of tricky grabbing dogs while they are fighting.

Gunslinger I'm glad you found a way to separate them so they don't fight anymore. A fault like this is just like any other, it's all in what you can tolerate and another case of to each his own. Like I said I just personally don't care for it but some guys wouldn't care for my mouthy mutts either.
The only thing I am gonna say is as far as for fixing the fault, it's not fixable imo. You just have a way to keep them from getting at each other to fight but they will probably always have the dispositions they do now. I've owned lots and lots of dogs over the years, not all beagles, and I never had a dog that I could actually "cure" from the behavior completely. And yes I can see where it would suck when it's a dog or dogs that are truly something special outside of the kennel.
Anyway like I said glad to see you found a resolution so it'll work for you.
