I can tell you folks from my 30 years as a USDA meat and poultry inspector that a BOAR hog will have a musty odor. I will guarantee you that if I don't smell it when it comes into slaughter alive I will when heat is applied to the meat. BOAR hogs are only allowed to be slaughtered in a federally inspected meat plant when they have NO sexual odor and are used in other communal products. In other words the BOAR meat must be blended in a formulation that eliminates any odor. I would say that folks that are NOT familiar with a BOAR hog smell may excuse it for a strong or wild taste. Sow hogs do NOT possess this smell regardless of how many litters she has had. The only problem with a large sow is that the meat may be tough but it will have No odor. In the very large slaughter plants sows are slaughted for sausage hogs as are BOAR hogs where they can co-mingle them to get rid of theslight boarish odor. These types of swine are real cheap for the BIG packers to purchase and make sausages from.

no mike, the land is not really marked... living around here my whole life and coon hunting and rabbit hunting ive sort of learned the back roads you might say.... but the easiest way to find it is if you can find a plat book(hard to find now) ive got them for lawrence and gallia and can probably scan you a copy of it .... and if you can get to the forestry headquarters over on 93.... they should have a map of all the government land for wayne national... trust me there are thousands of acres out my way... it might be spread out but theres ALOT...
