Have always kept mine in the house and never felt their hunt suffered from it.I think if a dog has hunt,it will be there no matter where it stays. Also think they behave a lot better and will almost read your mine when hunting with them,as to which direction you'll head from the truck when hunting and such.

And yes, If you remember in your reading, these he gave special denotation as being his "pets".
We have a "pet" cocker that was a left-over of my daughter, not much use for anything else. Willet never said, "when I pull the collars from my "pets", they can forget about me, I'll be in at the kill"... ;)

We keep ours in a heated kennel. Somehow, we always end up with one of those "special" ones living in the house.

I have an old dog now that follows me everywhere. Anytime we are not hunting she is constantly watching me to make sure she doesn't get left behind and meets me at the door every night when I get home from work.

Last Saturday this old house dog along with three of her offspring ran down a snowshoe hare, she retrieved it to me. Living the easy life seems to agree with her :)

Can't say the gang has ever ran down a hare but, I know a couple times the hare clapped in her form and the hounds checked all round her till one busted her out and she ran head long into the mouth of another hound... ... I'd like to say they run her down but the numerous times I saw her she looked under no distress...

Thanks for all the responses! I just got my pup (6months) 4 days ago and she is taking to the house extremely well. She has not had an accident in the house yet and sleeps through the night in a kennel already with almost no whining! I have had alot of dogs in my day but never had one take so well! I think that once I 100% escape proof my outside yard that I will leave her outside during the day.

Thanks again everybody!

Brian
