Well, it's ok to sit there and cry, "God save us" but, what I really think He means for us to do is get off our buns and do something about it... :hammer:
Did you ever get excited about any of those scriptures you read and say, "God, I'm gona do something for YOU today"...

I agree with most of you but saying the cost of oil is because of demand? Then why are the oil companies making record making profits each quarter? Does anybody subscribe to the " low supply" or the " refineries not being able to keep up"? When the price of crude goes up their profits go up so why would they want to let it come down? The cost of fuel has a direct hit on the economy, notice what has happened to the economy the last few years since the fuel prices have been escalated? A coincidence? I think not! JMHO Hare

Then the american people are putting a muslim in for president....for what this country has been thru in the past 8 years. Try and think about all the promises Bush made to the people during last term election, I understand it is a supply and demand situation with the oil prices, but it seems like thats pretty much with everything. I just dont know the price of gasoline can be 2.99 today and jump to 3.09 overnight, and take 3 weeks for it to back down.

He is not my pick for president ,but his religion is not Muslim. Supply can be manipulated to create demand. The oil co. may have not built more refineories to create demand .

Well said, APFII (on the spiritual responsibilities of church and family).

If there were still TVs being produced in this country, I'd buy one from them, but the American companies that I remember *cough*RCA*cough* sold out to Mexico where they could get cheap labor. We are the ones who insist on better and more for less -- we put that demand on the market. Well, they delivered, so it is what it is.

I'm not discounting the greed of the CEOs in publicly traded companies -- many are indeed looking out for themselves only. But, I also agree with the statement that corporations are not established to take care of the country. Many corporations at one point started as small, family-owned businesses, or a couple of people with a brilliant idea. They don't start out rich. To say that corporations "owe" us a living would be like, I dunno....socialized employment? LOL.

Their is no one stoping your children from praying in silence in the schools. You say you want open prayer in the school. Can it also be Muslim , Hindu, judeism,or will just your religion be allowed ?

Would a Christian prayer be allowed in any Muslim nation? This was once a "Christian Nation". Do you think there is any correlation between Christian Principles and this Country's success? Do ever wonder why so many so called Christian Nation's are such popular targets for refugees. It's interesting human behavior that so many want to destroy what makes them free. Christianity preaches tolerance of others. You are familiar with the parable about ignoring the tares?

Some may bs their way through a beagle board but need more study on becoming an economist.
Mom and Pop never drove a Country into bankruptcy before...
These clowns shelter themselves with bankruptcy protection and bail-out entitlements... :angryfire:

There are a lot of people here on this beagle board, including you, so I'm guessing the "bs" remark is for all. I don't claim to be an economist, and I'm not necessarily disagreeing with what you say, Patch, so put your hackles down. I only commented from what I've experienced on a personal level. Why can I not find a TV made in this country? Why have the big American car makers all but shut down in Central Indiana, and Suzuki, PK-USA, Toyota and Honda are now signing everyone's paychecks? I will be anxious to hear your reply. I work for a global, yet American-owned Fortune 500 company that is publicly traded, and has had 4 major reorganizations in the last year. I'm not blind to the power they wield over us, and I don't take for granted that my job will still be there on any given day.

My personal level experience tells me your electric rates are in jeopardy of a jump(just a heads up).
Old (school of hard knocks) has been buried some time ago, consulting firms rule and lead the talking heads around by the nose (costing billions). The waste is massive, Oh look! it's to expensive here, lets go south of the boarder where the "fair trade" laws shelter us...
Those that stay say, "we gotta cut the bottom end to save money, yeah, buy-out the little guy at the bottom and hire his boy at 1/2 pay /w no benefits and that will save us, yeah! great idea, we deserve a bonus for that, ok, consider it done...
I remember our 7th grade history teacher expounding, "He who holds the purse strings is boss", I just love when the little guy takes the fall for being at fault for the mess...
You can't get your wrench on this nut, he's already getting it from the top and bottom... ... Best wishes and GOOD LUCK... ;)

Folks,
This is venturing into two areas that I try to stay away from, politics and religion BUT ALL I'm going to say is what my late grandfather taught me in ALL those hours he spent sitting in a church pew and devoting his life to the Lord after having spent the biggest portion of it with the devil.
"ALL prayers need legs", I have a full understanding of what that means and it has nothing to do with sitting in that church pew, pulpit or what rolls from ones lips but rather what pours from their heart!

Here is George Carlin's Solution to Save Gasoline

Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use.....

The best way to stop using so much gas is to deport 11 million
illegal immigrants!

That would be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of
gas would come down.....

Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the Border....

When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand
him a canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him to Iraq ...

Tell him if
he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the military....

Give him a
soldier's pay while he's there and tax him on it.....

After his tour, he will be allowed to
become a citizen since he defended this country.....
He will also be registered to be taxed
and be a legal patriot..... .

This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a
solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life
for themselves.. ....

If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the
canteen, rifle or ammo.....
Problem solved.....
