im like most of you theyve given me to many years of enjoyment so they will get to retire with me enjoying the good life. There more than just dogs there my friends even family. Maybe i get to close to them sometimes and it makes me kennel blind but i know none of my hounds are perfect but they each have there special place in my heart and in my kennel ive had several retire out here and ive never put one down unless it was suffering and they get treated the same until the end and hunted as long as they can go.

I let the breeder of my old hound have him back when he was 8 so he could breed him and give him a good place to retire. I had a female die at 15 a few years back and was too gutless to face that again. I thought I was doing the hound a favor, but I won't do that again. I have 3 here now, and at least 2 will die here if they live to old age. I had to have a family pet put down last winter and it was difficult for all of us, esp. the kids. They learn from that, though, that life is short and precious. Hang on to your old hounds unless you know absolutely certain that they will be treated at least as good as you would treat them.

well i would keep the dog untill the day they died but i cant see a dog suffer if there suffering im not spending $100 to put it to sleap i may love the dog to pieces but they will bite the bullet. Take the walk with the 22 and bindertwine.

im not saying when they cant perform i have an old dog here that its hard for her to run with the dogs i have now and its even harder for her to run in the heat so when she is suffering cant walk stuff like that thats when she bites the bullet.
