We had a dog when I was a kid her name was Lady I think she was born when I was around 9 she died when I was about 23. In her older age she got a little crazy and would bark on the trail of the other dog that lived in the pin with her. She was okay when she could see her but if she lost site of her she would track her down. She really didn't care about rabbits in her last years she just wanted to be near Little Ann ( who is currently living today about 13 years old and still hunts). Lady was a 14 inch female with no papers just out of old beagle that wondered onto the farm. This dog was marked like a Sundown dog. Ya know tan face, black sadle, white tip tail, tan shoulders, white belly and ring on neck. This dog could pound a rabbit, handled well, speed good nose and great hunt. Lady helped me train Little Ann she was still in her prime when Ann was coming into hers. I'm not bragging but I feel I could've won any type of field trial with these dogs. They were great and I ran and killed more rabbits over these dogs than any other. I know there may have been more rabbits back then but when these two dogs were in there prime it was the time of my life. If my cousin happens to read this I feel he may have some good things to say about them. To the post started thank you for starting this you brought some good memories back to me. I may get sad thinking about it but man the times we had with those dogs.
Thanks
Nathan

best dog
she wasn't pretty, but the most dependable beagle I ever gunned over was a little grade female named Fatty, she had IT ,you know what i mean gritty, hard hunting, honest and could jump and run a rabbit out of thickets i had just seen other pretty fair hounds hunt through, big nose and got a little mouthy in her later years, died last year at about 10 and my buddy who owned her is still looking for another one,i don't think we'll find her i don't think you get many like that in a lifetime of dogs, but can remember many days that old Fatty saved the dayand to tell the truth i've never owned a dog like her myself and miss her too,So RIP Fatty
