All this talk bothers me.

All you have to do is get some grit and ask for a dog to be measured.

Matt Elliot had a dog measure out as well,he is 1 of the better judges, and he aint no small player either.

If you think measurements are showing favoritism you are dead wrong.

Why would somebody measure out Jay and Matt when they Judge every round they arent running a dog?

I would like to see every dog measured after they are entered and the entry fee paid. That way the club would get to keep the money and anyone that enters an oversized dog will be disqualified. If a person has a dog that might be close he could ask a breed inspector to measure before he enters his dog. This would stop oversized dogs from advancing and beating dogs that are in the legal size range and then being disqualified later. This is just my opinion and I don't mean to be picking on anyone. But the rules are the rules.15" is 15"

No one in ARHA wants to call out big hounds because of retaliation, just ask Randy Brown. Cast 9, second round in the opens. Someone calls out a hound that wasn't even his, so he said if your gonna measure that one measure them all. One slip of the tongue got him a six month ban? If those dogs were not DQ'ed no one would have protested the slip of the tongue. If you call out a big hound in ARHA there will be consequences !

I go to field trials to have fun not cause problems, measure the dogs before the hunt begins. I'm not going to stand at the stakes and call a friends dog out and I try to think of everyone at the trial as a friend

I believe that something does need to be done about all the over sized hounds in the trials. We are getting further and further away from the beagle standards. Size may not make the difference on a win or a loss but it is just the point. beaglers have come along way on improving the quality of the breed , So why do we keep letting this one slide by. IMO of course..

I believe something needs to be done, but shouldn't NKC not the handlers fix the problem. I,m the President of Kalamazoo River Beagle club and I would have no problem measuring before the hunt, but during the hunt you turn handlers against handler.

This is the rules in PP Division as of the 1st of the year.Little Pack might want to do the same.A hound being registered in the NKC must be measured and the height of the hound noted on the registration form by the breed inspector. If over 15'' he cannot be registered. When a hound goes to be certified for R.CH or GR.R.Ch he MUST be measured and the height of the hound written on the certification form.If the hound measures over he cannot move up.This has to be done by the breed inspector and his signature put on it.This will help insure that hounds are meeting the height requirement by the organization.
