bloody tails

Post by Big Head »

I've got some that wag their tails more than others... The ones that seem to have the helicopter stroke with their tail don't seem to bleed as bad as the windsheild wiper strokers.. some of them are bad enough that they wag in the pen and the chain link gets them bleeding... Even the young dogs I am just getting started have torn up ears and the tops of their noses are raw. I really watch mine and if one is not showing one or more of these conditions I question how much hunting and running they are actually doing. I have dogs to keep me from having to go home torn up from the briars. Our rabbits seem to be in the nastiest places nowadays and dogs that won't get in there and bring em out aren't meant for me..

I've also noticed mine not only bleeding from tips of their tails but also wearing the hair off what I would call their shins on their front legs. I think its from running all these briar choked brushpiles in the overgrown clearcuts around here.
They seem to enjoy doing it though. All I have to do is walk out back with my gun or lead in hand and they all come running
