It is kinda hard especially when age catches up ,but if anyway possible be standing straddle of track when they are coming thru. i can usally use this method about twice , the second time if they need it , they are hating life me and deer. :D . Shock collars are great for us older boys but i ran years with out them . I personally would rather be in position than shocking them .. just my 2cents good luck ;)

Jack, can't say for sure since they always wear collars. If they are collar wise probably will never know since they always wear them. I understand everyone has different thoughts on training and by no means am I an expert but I like to error on the caution side. I don't have a kennel full of dogs and they get pretty expensive to just get rid of instead of giving them another shot, glad I did. On the same token it sure is pain when happens in the begining and nothing is worse than losing a dog. I don't tell anyone how to train, raise and discipline their dogs. I was on my last nerve with mine and now I can honestly say they will turn them down. Every man has to decide what they want out of there dogs and they alone have to live with decision. I can only speak for my dogs and if they would not have quit I would have gotten rid of them because not only are they my pets but in the end I consider them working dogs.

Once they are broke throw em in with a deer runner and make sure they are broke under pressure to pack. If they won't pack in on deer chase they are really broke. Dan M

I am glad that you can stand to fool with dogs. I know I have done wrong by many, but am not sorry. When I ran Foxhounds. I would not look for a hound and before long every hound I kept was a perfect homer. With Beagles the worse they can do -to me- is run deer. The game keepers here will kill a dog in a heartbeat for running the easy to manage deer. It takes a lot of time to make a fired up hound clean up his act. The schocking is a very small part of it.
