BlueIceBeagles wrote:So Leah, you think someone venting on a bulletin board has the same attitude as a person calling up another breeder regarding purcahsing a hound? Do you honestly think thats what has made me so bitter??? Maybe, I'm an honest, hardworking person who has been researching and attempting to obtain a well bred show hound or stud services for my best bitch (on and off) since 2002. I have always done my best by my hounds and have managed to make some noticable improvements in my stock. I've always wanted the personal satisfaction of breeding an exceptional line that could be shown and hunt correctly. But you wouldn't know that, because you know you would never speak with me logn enough to learn more about my hounds, goals and breeding program. If you simply don't care for what I'm trtying to do, thats perfectly alright - we all disagree and have differing opinions in certain "looks" of different lines. What builds up and makes me angry, frustrated and bitter is that fact that most show breeders have not even given me that chance. They've expressed that they don't want their bloodlines intermingled with hunting stock. They find it repulsive almost, that I do this as a PASSION, and am broke becuase of it. I am as poor as you can get and that bothers them. There's alwyas an excuse, always a reason why they can't let me touch their lines.Windkist wrote:As for the comment by blue Ice. Its pretty apparent that your attitude alone probably gets you ignored or rebuked by pretty much anyone you try to deal with. So, rather than placing the blame on others why not look at yourself a little closer.
Sticks n' stones and all that...

Honey Pot, you say you had a male you would have studded out to field breeders. How convenient you don't have him anymore. Because for $350, most of us would have jumped at the chance to use him. I don't believe your claims. I'm sorry to be so cynical, but even a show breeder who I have the utmost respect for, and who has helped me on numerous occasions, and admired the fact that I strive to better the conformation of my hunting stock - even she would not consider using a show quality male on a field line feamle. She admires my bitch and was impressed that such good breed type was attained from 100% field breeding, but still, the line is drawn at intermingling the two lines.
So Leah, Honey Pot, what do you say? If you truly think I'm wrong, I'd be delighted if you proved me wrong. Would either of you, if I could provide breeding goals and a picture of a good quality field bitch from good, producing lines, would either of you sell me a potential show quality pup or stud out to me?
I'm sure this post will be followed by a resonating silence ..... but I'm always eager to be proven wrong.
What I think is that you are bitter but, the fact of the matter is that you have never emailed me or called me or asked me about my dogs. Yet you post on a public forum that you are SURE I would tell you to get lost and not answer you. At this point you are probably right because you have already said you don't like my dogs so, why on earth would you want to breed to one of them or buy a puppy from me? I have never seen your dogs but, I can assure you I would have never made the rude remarks about any of them that you made about my dog. Until you see him in the flesh and look at him for yourself you have no right to degrade him.
Had you taken the time to contact me I would have treated you with respect and kindness and I would have answered you honestly. I would have asked you what you were trying to accomplish and what your goals were. I would have wanted to know the living conditions of your hounds. I would never have treated you in the way you have treated me here. Ask a few other field beaglers who have taken the time to contact me how they were responded to. Ask those that were told they could use my stud dog or that I'd consider them for a puppy. Go back and look at Sundown beagles and see that they HAVE bred to my dog. I have never turned away a person because they had field beagles.
As for money.. I guess you must have access to my tax returns? We are working class people who are raising 3 children. The people who run field trials spend as much on their hounds as we do on our show dogs. Its a hobby for all of us.
