I usually don't harvest many rabbit around here or I wouldn't have many to train my beagles with. It seems like they are down this year.

hunting is ruff here in Tenn to i haven't seen a 4th of the rabitts that i seen last year, i to noticed what i did see were close to there holes with quick runs, don't know what the problem is but sure seen alot of yotes,so i would say that would be the biggest problem.just wished they would have been close enough to shoot.

There are so many at my favorite spot it gets confusing some days. One will run into a brush pile, and three will jump out!! Not that I'm griping. Thing is, I've lived in Iowa for two years, and I've never seen anyone else hunting rabbit. It is not like all the pressure that there is in Indiana, that is getting crazy.

I hunt in mostly central Indiana and the numbers seem to be down. I have went several times for 4 or 5 hours at a time and never jumped one.

The Coyotes are bad but the population of hawks and owls seem to be up also.

First year hunting in this area but the numbers seem low in Northern West Virginia.

I live about 15 miles from where the Loveston Buck was taken. Lot's of out of state plates during gun season.

We have been hunting in N/Ky and our numbers are about half of what they were last year. In addition, it's more difficult to get ground to hunt on every year. I love to run my hounds but it's very difficult to get them on rabbits.

rabbit population

Live in NW Indiana and hunt Willow Slough, Kingsbury, Jasper Pulaski F&WA, Salamoni Res. and Eastern Iowa. I'm 67yrs. old , shot my first rabbit just north of where Rt #149 intersects with Rt#130 east of Wheeler, IN, on what was private ground when I was 10 yrs. old. My father was a bunny hunter from New Phiadelphia, Ohio and he always contended that rabbits were in a 14 year cycle. Seven years to the peak and seven years to bottom. When they were at their peak, fox were down and visa versa. Now there are few fox and lots of yotes but I feel yotes are more mousers than anything else. They are opportunistic and will take what is available. I drove I-80 in November from IN thru Iowa and saw a hawk every 200-300 yds. NEVER saw so many. But hunting rabbits has been below average in IN. I have 2 six month old females and having terrible time finding rabbits to get them started. LOTS of rabbits in Iowa and LOTS of habitat!!!

I noticed that our solid training grounds that usually has tons of rabbits seems to be down a little so far this year. The numbers are still real good and you never have a problem finding rabbit just down a little from last year.
