valbazan anyone?

Does anyone use Valbazen? Whats the dosage and what kind of worms does it take care of? Thanks

Not one I see used commonly, so not real familiar. I do believe at the right dosage and frequency, it would act similar to fenbendazole(panacur).

Don't routinely use Valbazan for worming, but is an excellent treatment for Giarada. I had an English Setter that had a very persistient case- my vet recommended that I contact the Vet school at Cornell Univ. Since I am not a vet, but a chemist, they would not provided me with their study papers, yet they allowed me to order it from their library. Probably the most sure fire treatment I have seen.

For giarada the treatment is 1ml per 9 pounds of body weight. ( A 45 pound dog would get 5 ml) This is given twice per day for two days. Highly effective in dozens of treatments in large kennels.

I use it a couple of times a year just to alternate.
1cc per 10 pounds given orally for three days in a row.I was told it would get everything but heartworms. From my expierance with it, it does help on tapeworms but does not get them completely.Otherwise it seems to work pretty well.

I use it at the same dosage as Joe P. Been using it for a couple years. I give it about every 3 months just to change up.

I use it as well as several friends I know in this area. I give 2 ml to my hounds by mouth for three days. It seems to get everything but heartworms. I use ivomec for them (preventative).

I used it for a year. Bad results. Will NEVER use it again. Stick with the safeguard. Is safer and gentler.

Southern, what was the bad results you encountered?

I use it ever two months three days in a row an have for several years with good results and no problems my dogs are also on heartguard plus I give 1 cc per 10 pounds of body weight my vet said it is basically the same as panacure.

The results may be the same as "pancur" but chemically it is different! If you something even closer (chemically identical to?) pancur, get liguid safeguard. It is readily available and costs a little over $100 for a 1 liter bottle. That is only about 40 cent per dose or $1.25 for the three day treatment. Even though the Valbazen costs about half that I do not think the difference justifies the risks of digestive upset much less the risk "bone marrow suppression"!

I've used Valbazen with good results...
7 - 8 week old puppies with coccidia always acted and felt better the next day after treatment.
It's not the only treatment or wormer, but it's as good in my opinion...
Use what "you" feel is best for your hounds...

I have used Valbazen for 10 years with good results.I use the same dosage as mentioned in the above post.I use Ivomec during the summer months.I agree with patch.You have to do what you think is best for your hounds.Most everybody has an opinion on what type hound they think is best.Wormers is the sme way.Some say use this or that.Good luck
