I would say around 6 months old he would be able to do the deed.

wait until he proves himself in the field to decide wether or not to breed him.

I got a pup that's coming along pretty well. He's only about 5 months now but I wasn't planning on breeding until maybe March or April. I still might go outside to a stud dog.

I would wait until he has his full maturity and has enough time at whatever you do with him (hunt/show) to see if he is worthy. I won't breed bitches until 2 years old and have a title of some sort. One bitch didn't turn up a vaccine allergy until 16 months. She is now spade. Starting them too young at the breeding game is not a good idea for males or females. My opinion! carolyn

The bitch is 4 1/2 and has already had 3 litters (all w' previous owner), but I like the blood I have in this pup ad he would prob be around 10 months if I bred him, which I'm not sure I will anyways.

I wouldn't breed the pup until he has reached maturity regardless of his bloodline. In my mind you don't breed because of the bloodline you breed because of ability. Just my opinion.
