I have had 3 pups that i was feeding puppy food as soon as i switched them to diomond hi energy about 3 days later there rectom poped out then i had it put back in not knowing what caused it i started feeding them the same 3 pups puppy food then took stiches out 3 days later same thing.
now feeding them puppy food there fine. watch out guys for this i have about 500 rapped up in this.

I had an 8 or 9 month old do this several years ago. The culprit was the end of one of those rawhide bones I didn't see him gulp down his throat. Well the piece of knot unrolled and caused Scooter to keep trying to poop, causing the expulsion of the rectum.
I never had to go back and have the stiches removed, the vet said they were there for life, I wonder why your vet removed them...

I can't say anything about the food causing this, except for the urge to poop - perhaps something in it was too much for their system.

I am just curious, did you switch them all at once, or mix the two different feeds for a while?

Started mixing it see there was 8 pups in there and only 3 this happend to but that was only at first then i switched it all at once and it happend to the other 2 about a month later. then the first pup after bing in the house on puppy food was taken out and put back in with the rest of them about 3 days later the same thing. but then it happend again to the first pup. i believe its the dog food.

Thats what i was feeding andy but went out there tonight same pup 4 times now ripped his stitches right out. wish i had a clue what i could do.

Push the prolapse back in, sow a stitch purse string around the anus, use self disolving thread. Leave it loose enough you can insert your fore finger. This will keep it in while the scar tissue forms and it heals. If you use regular stitching thread, leave it in at least 10 days before removing, 14 days better. Best to feed hound soft food, nothing that would bind him up.

we do that we leave it in for 10 days the pup that it has happend to 4 times pushed so hard that the stiches ripped out the stitch was still in part of the food. so should i water the food down.

Anorectal prolapse

Is the protrusion of rectal tissue through the anus. It occurs as a sequel to forceful and prolonged straining. Conditions associtated with the forceful straining include severe constipation, fecal impaction, diarrhea, obstruction, labor and delivery, and obstructed bladder.

A mucosal prolapse is confined to the lining of the anal canal. It appears as a red, swollen, doughnut-shaped ring of tissue. This might be mistaken for a prolapsed hemmorrhoids, but dogs dont get them. In a complete rectal prolapse a segment of the rectum several inches long protrudes through the anus, appearing as a pink or red cylindrical mass.

TREATMENT:

A mucosal prolapse dissapears spontaneously when the underlying cause of straining is corrected. The dog should be placed on a stool softener such as colace and fed a highly digestible, low - residue diet until symptoms resolve.

A rectal prolapse requires veterinary management to reduce the prolapse. A temporary purse-string suture may be taken around the anal opening to prevent immediate recurrence. If the prolapsed bowel is necrotic (tissue dead) It will have to be surgically removed. Bowel continuity is restored through end to end suturing.

Have also been told a granulated sugar compress (not moist) On the rectum will help for prolapse. Worth a shot I guess.

thanks for the advise the pup on the forth try now is pushing so hard that hes rippin his stitches can you tell me what i should feed him?

You should talk to your vet about putting the pup on colace and see if he thinks its a good idea. Colace is a stool softner. Also I would mix pup chow with hot water out of the tea kettle let it sit and add more water so it is like soup. Once it is cooled try feeding the pup that. I hope everything turns out ok. Never had one with this problem before. Also you might talk to your vet about using mineral oil. Mineral oil can be used as a lubricant or laxative. He could give you the dosage.

There doing good the one that i was telling you about is doing good i have been watering it down with water like you said its working good.
