Kennel Barking (HELP)..........

Me and a buddy were out running beagles and he had a big male coon hound that would bark after he left ,he had a bark collar on him big bluetick ,big head tall we could hear him all the way out there about 5 miles ,he had to go back home ,he wouldn t stand still for him and he had to hog time him to get it off

I live in a suburban area as well, and can't tolerate a barker. There is always at least 1 neighbor
no matter where you are that wants to be an ass. If 1 of my dogs bark they call the cops, and
I have had up to 26 in my yard at 1 time uncluding puppies. I have fox, deer, stray cats and rabbits
come into my yard so I have to keep my dogs from barking. I have used the water hose but that only
works if I am home, as soon as I pick up the hose they dash in the dog box. My older dogs usually don't
bark, it's the young ones that have not been broke from barking. I do like the bark collars, but I have
had some dogs that will holler that much more when the collar shocks them and they don't stay very long.
I think some dogs are just to ignorant to learn, and I get rid of them quick.

I use to have 8 dogs now one but I had the cops called on me because they would bark when they seen my truck at 3:30 P.M. and when I come home at Noon for lunch nothing they new ,cops said that my dogs were barking and when he talk to the neighbor he said they only bark when I come home from work,cop said there not barking now so when he come and seen me my dogs was not barking ,and I ask him what do you here he said dogs barking all the way around here but not at your house,I said has he called you because of the other dogs ,well no I said that herrasment and he said there a thing called comin newsons ,so when he left the guy come out and yelled at the other dog across the street so I called the cops and made a report and so did about 10 other people on him have not herd another word and my male still barks a little at supper time

well this may sound mean and hateful to some ,and you may not do want to do it,but the waterhose trick only works in the summer and i dont like bark collars because they are pretty much the same thing as a shock collar which i have on them every time i am runnin them so when they smell a rabbit i want them to bark and not be affraid of gettin shocked so nomatter when or what time it is i hollar once to shut up then the next time i go to the kennel and the one or ones that are barkin get a good a$$ whoopin nomatter if it's 3am i will throw on some sweat pants and muck boots and it don't take long before they shut up and will not even bark at deer or stray cats passin throw i will not tolerate a barkin dog in my kennel and i promise you that this works and i have not found a dog yet that did'nt get the picture and quite down.they are no different then kids if u let them get away with it it will only get worse,if u correct them in a firm manner u will see results good luck....and hope i did'nt offend anyone but that is just my opinion it may not be right but it works for me so you feed yours and i will feed mine...just be consistant in this nomatter how tired you are and how bad you want to stay in the bed get up and go to the kennel take a fly swater or belt or switch and give them 2 or 3 swats and i promice you that in a week or 2 you will be gettin back on here tellin me that it worked,

My Dad would agree to that might try it he would take a rolled up newpapper he said its loud as hell and it does not hurt them but it gets there attention I can remember standing at the door and he would give them some good whacks and they would let go some screams ,that bring back memory when the belt use to rule I got my share but learned quick

I have used this method as well, but there is always some dogs that will still try your patients and bark.
I have taken a switch and whipped them like they stole something and they still would bark eventually.
Some dogs are just problem dogs and keep on barking, they might not bark as much or as bad but they will still do it
from my experience. I try to cut my loses and get rid of them quick, I can't stand bad kennel manners.
The area I live in if someone complains about your dogs barking, the local animal control sends you a fine starting at $25.00
next time it's $50.00, 3rd offense is $150.00. I have had complains made on my dogs for barking when they were just playing in the yard, of course same neighbor.

That's where my ole hat trick comes into play.They know i mean business when it comes off.I don't like it neither do
they but they have to know who's the boss.I use the water hose in the summer like cpuckett said but my brothers hose
is in the garage and they get it year round if they act up.The collars i don't like to use because it will put sores on their
neck learned that lesson and won't do it again.

Both water and bark collar methods have worked for me in the past. The only issue I ever ran into with either is sometimes with the water thing they will learn to just go hide in the box when you walk up to the kennel. And I had one time where a dog learned to bark only when the bark collar was not on him.

I use the water treatment also,I use a nozzel that can be left open(the old brass type that you screw open) and prop it under pen with cement blocks.When the problem barker starts I turn it on at the house without them even seeing me.I do this summer and winter,if wants to bark in the winter he will get wet and cold,it doesnt take long. A metal coffee can and 5 pennies.

Put the plastic lid on.

When they bark, shake the can like a crazy person.

Eventually you just show them the can and they zip into their houses.

What age for young dogs or pups to you put bark collar on. 15 weeks, 6 months etc

i used to have birddogs my male had allready been broke from barking when he was a pup with water hose i got a young male pup and put him in same kennel hooked my water hose up that night pup started barking i turned water hose on after about 4 times of soaking i heard a fight in kennel old dog was tired of getting wet to fromthen on that pup could just whine old dog would groul at him he would run get in doghouse

We use the hose method too. We have the hose rigged to the facut on the front of the house and the long hose is conected to splitters and short pieces of hose that go to each run, or section of kennel. If they start you go out the front door and just open it up and soak the whole bunch. If you have one that is really bad position a hose to to get that one directly and run him right in the box. Kennels are in the back of the house. They normally listen if you yell at them but when they dont see you they learn to be quiet all the time. Start in warm weather so the hoses dont freeze and just leave the short peices of hoses hang on the kennel year round and just disconnect the main hose. Brock

I had the same problem with two of my dogs. Gaurdian Bark collars on Ebay for $23 fixed the problem. The water hose may work but at 1:00 in the morning if i do go to the kennel to shut a dog up it will be for ever!
