Ron, I'm sorry to hear of your dog. I hate to see any of my own dogs down with something, especially if I have a hard time diagnosing what is wrong. The fact of the matter is, it could be a couple of things. The fact is, like someone already stated, you should get the dog to the vet as soon as possible as I'm sure you're aware. The problem could be as simple as a sprain or strain, or could be as serious as a tumor or bone degenerative disease. I own a really well written, informative vet. book, and did a little research on your problem as I have had no personal experience in this case to draw from. Without seeing the dog, or obtaining a little more info on condition of your dog, it is really hard to pinpoint, or to make an educated guess as to what exactly is going on. I read about a number of disorders that sort of describe your dogs symptoms, but there are a few missing blanks to be filled in. Like any swelling, appetite loss, onset of symptoms, general demeanor, fever, etc. I wish you the best of luck with your hound, and if possible, please post what is wrong when you find out. I hope it's nothing serious. Good luck.
