lump

Post by Smoke »

I went down the other morning to feed as normal. and I noticed on one of my hound that he had a big lump on the side if his ribs. He is in the pen with my other male and they noth just play fight, which every now and then they get mad. He has lost weight and I am feeding good food there is no reason for it. He is about 9m old. I hope it ain't cancer.

Smoke,
A suddenly appearing large lump sounds more like a bruise to the ribs or could be infection, if there is a puncture wound at the site.
There could be a pecking order being settled that you don't know about and your young hound may be coming out on the short end of the stick. As long as the other hound is allowing him to eat, matters should settle themselves. If the other hound is keeping him from eating, short couple the other hound to the kennl wall and feed both seperately. As long as he's getting food, it's best to let them settle things, most times us interfering only makes jealiousy between the two and they go at it harder. Peace should come eventually, if they get real bad, you may have to keep the hounds seperately kenneled.
Best of luck...Patch

I think that it is better now. I went out there yesterday to try to kill sme monster rats that are eating more food than my dogs I looked at him and I believe it was gone. But I am going to pay more attention.
