Supplements for an anemic beagle

Post by Chuck Terry »

I have a dog that I let get anemic from a bleeding tail (I did not realize he was losing that much blood!). What can I add to his diet to get him back up to par quicker?

CAll your vet or go to your pet store and get a good dog vitiamin and an iron supplement. But be careful, you can get too much iron in a hound. Probably best bet would be the vitiamins.

I have been trying to go natural - liver and such and he is not responding as quickly as I would like to see. I think you are right an iron supplement would probably be good if not overdone. I was just a little hesitant due to the iron overdose concern in male humans who take iron supplements. Thanks!
