Joey,
Did you say $250.00?? I took a female in and had an ultrasound done and it cost $80. total..
Find another vet!!!!
Didn't you say she was a grade dog? The one you are thinking about breeding? If so you will end up with grade pups, and I don't know of many that will pay $200 for a pup as quoted on an earlier reply. I know I wouldn't. JMO.
Need to get her checked and see if she is pregnant as most everyone states. If she is not and has the bloodline you are looking for, wait till she comes into heat again, and breed at that time. I wouldn't breed a bitch that has a severe bad trait of cold trailing and or popping off. I believe fast eddy stated the same thing to you.
Call another vet. , there are al ot of them that will do it for a lot less I am sure.
yep $250..........this is st.louis MO. every vet in town is expensive.
like i said before about the cold trailing most of the time a rabbit is produced. She does this on cold very cold mornings and with a good frost on the ground.
Put her on the ground this time of year and she doesn't do that.
And on those cold days when she does this its usually around 7am or 8am once it the sun hits the cold trailing stops. She's always been like that. Since she was young. It doesn't bother me. I actually like for her to do that. well most of the time. Tells me a rabbit has been thru the area. then I look for the best spot I think a rabbit would hide and push the dogs in. And most the time a rabbit is produced.
just depends on the conditions

I had a friend's bitch go 70 days from her first breeding or 68 days from her second breeding. If she hasn't gone into labor and isn't in any distress I think your wasting your money at the vet's unless you just want peace of mind and a lighter wallet.
here she is on a (mini) check. keep your eyes on the black dog with the high pitch mouth she picks it up and you can hear her in the end. She doesn't get mouthy in the check either.
rabbit can be seen in the very very beginning of video

Joey, I think a hound that opens on a track and in 4 min. jumps a rabbit is a good hound. I don't call this "cold trailing". I have a female much like yours, she can trail a rabbit other dogs will miss and she will jump it most times. What I call a dog cold trailing, is one that opens and does not produce a rabbit. I have seen hounds that spend lots of time bawling around on cold tracks and waste most of the hunt doing so. I don't keep that kind of hound long.
If you think you would like what that bitch and junie would throw, who cares what anyone else thinks. Like everyone said, don't think you could go wrong from what most people say. I have never gotten to watch Junie go, but just listening to Bobby Vest and Blair talk, he must be the real deal. I have a male out of him, 2 years old, he is getting tougher every week. I got a Buzzsaw bitch came in Thursday, if I had the extra money I'd help with gas for you and have you take her too. The way it looks now though, I will be crossing her with either my Mojo dog(Branko) or Mikey dog(Chester x Northern Tracker).

This is exactly how I feel about my dogs. I said I would buy a pup, but if you feel confident that you can have a pup out of your own female ready for Rabbit season, Go for it. Or you could go ahead and do both. I am going to be cutting it close with my pups if she has them with no complications. When October gets here, I won't have no where to run. I'll get to hunt Thanksgiving and Christmas. I was determined to have pups out of my own dogs. I saddled this horse, I've got to ride now.

"another thing Lisa don't bark out of the blue making a false line. If she cold trails on cold mornings 90% of the time a rabbit is produced. No making up lines either. If she barks a rabbit is nearby just have to jump him. that where my other dogs perk up and hit the area hard searching. every time i rabbit hunt and she does this I say ok rabbit in the area now just have to jump em. thats when I work the dogs toward thicker cover. "
I have a female that does this too, but from reading all this, I'd say my female might be worse than yours, Joey.
I can live with this for the most part, but I know this is not a desirable trait, so I took the safe route for me & the beagle world, & had her spayed. She has alot of good points, but the guy I got her from said her momma was the same way, so I'm thinkin in my dogs case, it's hereditary. I'm not sayin you should do this, not at all. Cuz I think you are more happy with your dog than I am with mine. And by the way it sounds, you like your Lisa dog, & if you think she'll throw good pups, go for it! But it is gettin late for a pup not yet born to be old enough to be runnin in the fall. It's your call.

Joey my bitch just had 4 pups today and it was day #65 and she showed no signs period. I checked her temp this morning and it was 99.7 f came back around 11:30 am and still nothing then around 1 pm was working around the lot and walked over to pet her and she had 3 and 45 minutes later she had another. I wouldn't give up just yet.

I hunted a pup that born in July this past season and it was fun to watch her. We didn't run her everytime out but she hunted over 5 hours before she got tired at 5 monthes old but didn't pack very well until she was about 8 monthes. What can ya expect from a pup? If your other bitch isn't pregnent I think you would regret not breeding to Junie and having that blood in you kennel. Just my opinion. Best of luck, keep posting.
In my opinion, if you like your Lisa female and want to raise a pup from your own bloodline, I would go for it this weekend since this Saturday will be day 9 and take her to Junie and then I would keep at least two pups and get them started before I decided which one I was going to keep and you shouldn't have any problems getting rid of rest of them.
When I got home from work I took this video. In the video you can see the lumps in her belly. I got what I feel good footage. Maybe one of you guys could explain what the heck is going on.
Also around 10pm I went out to check on her. I massaged her milk then sqeezed the nipple and guess what. A good amount of milk came out.
This is day 66
please take a look at the video.
I also spoke with yellowdog. He is going to take care of me if my daisy don't have any pups anyday soon. He has a litter due in 2wks his Lady X Ringo. I should be pleased with this pup. Will be related to brewers/chad Dingo dog. If any of you seen him run. Will be his little sister. With all the problems I'm having trying get a litter of my own. I'm better off just getting a pup and not messin with having a litter. It would have been nice to get a junie litter. Trust me I'd really like to but I shouldn't mess with trying to have a litter. With my luck something would happen again.
