Eye Infection

Post by ridge hunter »

I have a male dog that has what looks like an infection in his eye ( yellowish looking stuff ). I have been giving him antibiotic drops in his eye for about 1 1/2 weeks and I'm not seeing any change. Went out to feed the dogs today and I noticed that my old female in the next pen is showing the same thing in one of her eyes. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do?

Is this in the corner of both eyes? I noticed 2 of mine having yellow gunk in the corner of their eyes lately. I don't remember seeing this before.

No, it is only in the one eye. Took him to the vet last week and she said that he may have scratched his eye. I have him on antibiotic eye drops and some inflammatory medicine that I got from the vet. I haven't seen any change yet but he is still getting the medicine.

Use Terramycin if you can find it. It i in a tube at most co-ops. It works great and is an ointment for eyes!

My dogs from time to time have the same symptoms, mostly after running in the thick stuff. I use a product called N F Z Puffer for Eye and Ear infections and surface wounds and abraisions. This product has cleared mine up within the next day, sometime for bad cases I will do a second treatment. I bought at a country feed store, most dog supply places should carry this product. It is manufactured by HESS & CLARK, INC. Lexington, KY 40511.

It is in powder form. With a cotton ball wipe the eye clear of drainage and hold open the eye lid and squirt the powder into the eye shut it and rub gently and let the med do it's work. This is a really fine product. I paid $ 9.99 for the container.

It contains 0.2% Nitrofurazone in a water soluable base.
