thanks, they dont look their best there. these 2 have a lot of energy & dont want to be still on the bench. ive even tried it after a full day in the field. im really in love with these 2 . hopefully i can hit a few hunts & shows this coming year, sure gonna have to stack better than they do now. both hate to have their tails touched.

while you have them standing and stacking rather than trying to have them pose all the time just get them to stand 4 square and feed them some small dog biscuits or just some kibble. Keep talking and telling them stand, or stay or whatever word you'd like to use.. stroke their tails from the underside until they relax.. It can take a while for sure but, relaxing them is key. 10 min a day will make a world of difference ;-)
Is that Cujo. If I would have known he'd get that big he would have never left. Oh well hard lesson learned.
Dry Creek Kennel-Bred to get it done where it counts the most "under the gun".

For those of you who are interested in bench shows its a good idea to start stacking your puppies young. I start mine around 5 weeks old. I just stand them up on a grooming table or whatever hard surface you have will work. At this age its not necessary to get them into a perfect pose but, just get them used to being up off the ground and being held. I continue this through 8-12 weeks and at 8 weeks get them on a lead so, they'll walk without being mules ;-) One of the most impressionable ages is 7-8 weeks old. They are open to learning at this stage. Trying to teach them at 5 months is rough!!!
I was watching the Monks of New Skete and they actually start at 7 weeks and simply tie the pup's leash to their belt loop for 20 minutes each day while they walk around and do their thing. The pups learn that they need to pay attention to their handler. I thought that was interesting. They sure do have a way with dogs.

I'm afraid pup and I would be stepping on each other and falling down. Puppies tire easy and they also loose interest quickly. 10 min a day for training is enough when they are that young.
