Worming with Nemex II
How often do yall worm your dogs? On Nemex II they say to worm every month if you're in a heavily infested area. I've never had problems with worms and was just wondering if I was wasting my money. By the way, my dogs have always been wormed every month and I'm just wondering what yall do. Thanks

I worm with Nemex as my primary wormer. Every 3 months I switch and use Safeguard or WormX plus because they do more than roundworms. In any worming program (wether for dogs, horses, cattle, goats, whatever) it is important to rotate your wormer because parasites can become imune to the same wormer over time. I usually skip a month with no wormer after I use the Safeguard or WormX.

I only use Nemex 2 for pups & pregnant females. For grown dogs, I alternate between Safeguard and Canine Allwormer. Not counting Ivomec for heartworms.

I only use nemex2 on pups 2wks,4wks,6wks after that safeguard. On my grown dogs Ivomec every month, safeguard about every 3rd month with a dose of adams nomo occationally just so they don't get use to the same stuff. With the nemex2 it is my experience that you have to not feed the dog for about 24hrs for it to work very well.

Well that might be what the box said and I'm no vet but I have tried it both ways and it doesn't work well with food, I normally wait about 24 hrs. without food before I worm them and about 4 hours before I feed them after I worm them. I don't believe everything I read or hear so how other people use it is up to them, I just know what works for me.

Earl no offence taken I just stated what I experienced in the past with this wormer. A lot of stuff we all use on our dogs is for other animals or uses but if it works everybody benifits. Such as Bayer tree and shrub for fleas, I hadn't heard that until I read it on this board. Haven't tried it but if I need to in the future I will try it.
