the lady at the emergency center over the phone said that it could possibly anal glands or can have trouble pooping. and to give him laxatives. well he pooped (solid) twice after feeding but still seem to want to come out of dog house. try it again tomorrow and see? i guess it could take a day to kick in.

now my dog isn't eating. he had to movements yesterday after feeding him, but now today. when i fed him tonight i gave him his normal food. he looked at it and walked away then i added water and he drank the water but not much of the food. he may of ate 1/2 a cup. he normally can't eat the food fast enough. any suggestions? i plan on taking off work monday and getting him into the vet. but any suggestions before hand? has anyone had this happen to their dog? the above post that i wrote, he's still acting like he can't walk much and still keeps tail tug under him. and now he doesn't come out of his dog box.

This dog could have an anal gland abcess. He could also be experiencing back problems but, I highly doubt constipation is your problem. Look at his rear on either side of his rectum and see if there is anything that looks sore or feels sore. How is he standing? Does he seem like his rear is weak? If you cannot get him to a vet until monday I would just make sure he is drinking water and comfortable. Water is essential, food is not. If you have amoxi it can't hurt.
good luck,
Leah

well after taking my male dog to the vet this morning. he has some disc issues which causing him pain in his back which answers why he has trouble sitting and walking. due to his pain he's not wanting to poop. so he's blocked up also. so the vet is giving him steroids, pain killers and muscle relaxers. and if he's not any better in 3 or 4 days for me to bring him back to discuss surgery on his back.
after discussing it to my friend we both agree that he hurt his back from years of wagging his tail so hard when on trail. he will wag so hard that it bounces his back quarters off the ground and side to side.
thank you everyone for your help and suggestions.

Read the posts on my dog with disc problems. I just left him and he can stand on his own today by leaning on the kennel wall. Disc problems are not simple. Maybe he will be alright soon. Don't give up on him. If I had followed some advice I received I would have put mine down a couple of weeks ago. He's not well yet but I'm sure glad I didn't put him down. If tail wagging has anything to do with it, mine is a super tail wagger also. He couldn't move his tail for about 3 weeks and today he is wagging it almost normally.
since i got him home and gave him his first set of pills until now, 9 hrs later he has done a complete 180. before he wouldn't come out of his dog box, now when i went out to feed the dogs , he came running out to greet me with his tail wagging and his face looked much better, he didn't look like he was full of pain. i'm so happy it could be my birthday. he's one heck of a dog and i hate seeing anything happen to him.
