dog with pups ?
I have a female that has pups that are 2 weeks old. She appears to have the mange. Might not be but that is what it looks like. Is there anything I can dip her in that won't hurt the pups? Thanks
NOT
I doubt it but you may want to contact your vet . My first thought was a ivomec shot but that would probably go through the bloodstream into the milk and to the puppies
. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will come along
maybe try asking SR Patch

I would not treat her for mange without first confirming she has it - too risky to the pups! I could be anything from hormonal issues to an allergic reaction. Are the pups in an area that is kept reasonably clean and dry? I would let the vet do a skin scrape or whatever he deems appropriate to diagnose the condition. I hope it is not mange because the pups will more than likely get it too if they do not already have the mites. Good luck!

If she's just shedding off alot of hair, it's whats known as "blown coat". Alot of bitchs do this after whelping, nothing to worry about.
If there is deep red rashes, bumps and itching going on, you may have something.
I use no bedding as it's warm weather and it easier for the bitch to clean up after the pups. The pups pee the box and the acid from it makes any bedding rancid and irritates the skin of the pups and bitch.
If she's not biting or scratching at herself all the time and there is no rash or sores, it's all normal and she's ok...
Best of luck with your puppies, keep the box vented and dry so they don't get hot and the bacteria stays down. Give them a dose of Nemex so the worms don't stunt them. They say in the 90's the next few days, I sure got burnt taking my nephew fishing today...
