A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
KY hunter,
My Dad owns one of the ithaca ultra featherweights 16 guage. It is a beautiful gun, light as a feather. I use a Mossberg .410 pump. I am having a gunsmith make my old ithaca 20 guage auto ready for a sling. I am not getting along with the action on my .410.
Smokes Creek Sy's Blue Bea. Take her and you don't need to carry a shotgun around. I have only seen one rabbit that went into a push up pile that she didn't bring out. Saves on shells also.
I shoot an old 16 guage side by side. I have a much newer autoloader but the side by side is great cause you can choose your choke for the particular shot.

Yes it is. I'd like to have another. Just incase something happens to this one.
i can't make up my mind so i take the one i have shells for
rem 1100 20 ga mod choke #4's
rem 870 16 ga mod #5's
larger shot at longer ranges= less pellets in the rabbit with = kiling
H&R 410 Youth single barrel , got it for my 10th birthday & never used anything else.
The shells now cost about as much as the gun did back then. Some boys I hunt with call it a pop gun but it will do the job if you aim right.
Untill recently I used my 870 20 gauge wingmaster or a rem. 597 .22LR. Now that I got a beagle pup and running rabbits is game I bought a H&R single shot .410. Much easyer to get around in the thick with the little gun.
