Wing, you know my feeling on the collars.
They are the greatest training tool that I have found.

A training collar in the hands of a knowlegabe trainer is an invaluable tool. A trainging collar used improperly can ruin a dog. I strongly advise anyone who buys or uses training collars to read the instructions and train in the yard on a long rope before turning a dog loose in the field with a collar on. I have seen people do this. It is very confusing to a dog to turn him loose. Dogs need to be conditioned to the collars so they know what to do when they are used. I have seen people shock their dogs to try to make them handle and the dogs will go the other way wide open. The dogs don't know he is being corrected all he knows is something is hurting and scaring him. I'm all for collars but they are only as good as the person holding the transmitter.
Very well said Rosewood, A shock collar can not ruin a dog only the man using it. A lot of work needs to be done before you start trying to break a dog off trash. I think anyway. Used correctly they do the job you want and leave no lasting side effects. As John Wick Said (one of the best dog trainers ever). Shock collars advance dog training 20 years!

Rosewood has said it...however i have friends that have been lucky enough that they just go out press the button if they dont come and have been very successfull. Yes one of the guys had a dog high tail the other way. I also think a dog can get away from you to the point he cant here you but you can sting him with the amount of range you have then he gets very confused. Good sure out ways any bad...I just wish i could have had it for some of the jerks i had over the years..Ill always wounder what if...
