Swamper, I don't think you would go wrong by taking Plow upon his offer. I have been very pleased with the 2 Patch's I got from him. They both seem to be loaded with hunt and can move a rabbit along without many losses.

Finally found two dogs I liked. Talk about taking my time. Looks good on paper (no, not pedigrees, just figure of speech) but only time will tell.

I'm not sure of how fast you want. I raise Patch hounds that can flat run a rabbit. My hounds are out of Superior Patch Kennel and the JLT stuff. Also Chris H. of Bayou City Beagles got some hounds that can flat smoke a rabbit and are will not run off game. He has some pups now. Im me for more details.

I have owned and Trialed hounds for years and after seeing and judging beagles that were fast and faster i still say.....Everyone likes to sit up front BUT not everyone can drive!!! You know what I mean? I am a big fan of My friend Rick Giermata's Smoke Creek Hounds. His mix of Branko and new york hare breeding has been tough to beat in ARHA, AKC and UKC. I owned Smokes Creek Little Sammy and he placed or won a lot of hunts and he Placed 2nd at the Little World the only "big Hunt " I got to put him in.Dogs out of Rick's Champion Syris McGee are placing and winning all over the place so read up his dogs and make an intelligent decision.

Alabama Swamper I to have been thinking about speeding up also. You do know that it will pull your current dogs apart.That's why I haven't done it. 3,4 years ago I was almost to quick for AKC trials around here now I'm average speed. The club I mostly run trials at is known as very conservative. Speed seems to be the way to go now that them durn Yotes have them going crazy. However I still like the way my dogs run they generally run 50 to 150 yards behind the rabbit. As long as they keep that close I'm sticking with them. Think about it before you do it. All the years of breeding and Raising down the drain. You know the faster the wilder also. Think of the Turtle and the Hare. Good meduim speed Dogs with excellent line control can cover alot of ground, making them seem faster than they are. That's were I'm at right now. JMO Good luck in your choice.

I would suggest from past experiences that you shy away from crossing the two. The reason I say this is you will probably lose your consistent characteristics in each line. Some will be fast and others will be medium speed. The problem lies down the road after you made several crosses and you are not getting one style or the other consistently. There are many bloodlines that can run a line with speed and control. You have to be selective and patient. You may have some luck with the patch hounds. I don't have any myself, but I have seen some real nice ones. Same goes for most of the hare hound lines. The key is getting a good producing bitch. That would solve any and all problems.
