Rabies Vaccine In heat??

Rabies Vaccine In heat??

Is this a problem if my gyp is in heat and i take her to get her rabies vaccine?? Just thought i would ask to make sure.

I would wait until after she whelps. Split your vaccines into two different time periods. They cause quite a stress on the dog's immune system and being pregnant already has stress on the system. Check Dr Dobb's vaccine schedule and site for more information. Carolyn

How old is a pup when it has it's 1st rabies vaccine? I thought 12-14 weeks.

Is she bred or just in heat? If she is just in heat you can take her in and have her rabies done. Just make sure the office is aware, they may want to get you right in the room. ;)

No she isn't bred she is just in heat.

My head wasn't working too well this morning. Do lots of reading and seperate your vaccines. Much less trauma for your hound's immune system. I have quite a bit of information collected if you want me to pm it to you. Carolyn

Well the vet said she isn't in heat. But the other dogs were trying to breed her and said to show dominance they never bothered her before.
