Judge Jumps Rabbit: Can Dog GGet A Strike?

Post by rabbitatfarm »

LP Strike Rule #6 states no strike or jump points are awarded if the dogs have to be put on the track. Jump Rule #12 states that no jump points can be awarded on a rabbit jumped by a judge, handler, or spectator. If a judge or handler jumps a rabbit and it runs past a dog who opens three times, does that dog get a strike? The rules seem to leave an opening to score the dog.

No strike points should be given because the rabbit was still jumped by the judge or handler the judge should go off first check.

if the dogs don't see the rabbit when the judge or handler jumps the rabbit, you can let them hunt on and give strike points when the 1st dog gets the three barks. they still have to produce the rabbit and run it. when you have to put the dogs on the bunny you never give strike points.
let honesty run through the veins of each and every judge at each and every trial at each and
every format.

Are you saying that after the rabbit is jumped by a judge, the dogs have to produce it again? If there's a situation like we have now with crusted snow a dog could draw a minus on a jumped rabbit. There are a lot of gray areas in the rules. It should be cut and dried. Any rabbit jumped by a judge, handler, or spectator should not receive either strike or jump points period. If the dogs are placed on the track, go from first check. Makes it more clear.

When the dogs are placed on a rabbit there is never strike points given, but if the judge jumps a rabbit he can let the dogs hunt and give strike points (not jump) to the first dog that strikes in.

rabbithunter5890 is 100% right. if you don't put dogs on rabbit you can give strike points. judge dosnt even have to tell handlers he saw rabbit.
