I am wanting to know about the speed and line control of UKC performance pack dogs. How are they in the check area? etc.

Unless things have changed dramatically, UKC HH is a lot like PKC (handler calls the scoring on the dog), while UKC PP is a lot like ARHA PP (but they also score for staying on the line)

Hey Bill how ya been.
So does the UKC PP score like ARHA PP with jumps and checks or only on the line, but the dogs run like ARHA PP.
it's good we have so many formats to pick from i guess.
i want to go see some others aswell mostly AKC Mid west then like a UBGF one of the other SPO ones.
do you guys go to any mid west hunts?

all i know for sure is i am ready for fall.

I assumed (or at least here in Michigan) that UKC PP is alot like ARHA PP. I know of clubs over here that were ARHA PP that switched to being UKC PP but i also know in different parts of the country formats can be different. I think they score dogs on how well they work within a pack and how good they stay on the line but also they tend to be relatively fast on foot speed.
Guess im going to find out next Saturday when I go to my first UKC PP trial. Ill let u know how it is then :D

I have bee to a few PP trials and they score
Plus points:
1. first dog to strike gets 50, 2nd dog 40, ect.
2. score a line any dog through on line gets same amount point
3. any recovery of line gets points (check) no set time limit

Minus points;
1. not producing a runnable track( any dog struck in and not able to move a track for 4 min. gets a -10)
2. pulling dogs out of check area
3. back tracking
4. excessive over run or skirting
5. off game disqualifed

there maybe others of both this gives a good idea how they score,
don' t have to have fast dog to do well but a clean dog speed not a factor it is very similar to progressive pack

UKC PERFORMANCE PACK SCORING

first do struck in gets--- 20 points
all other dogs struck in before the rabbit is produced gets----- 10 points
any dog recovering a check or loss gets---- 10 points
once a dog has barked three times the dogs have 4 minutes to produce the rabbit or all dogs struck in get minused there strike points- for example first dog struck in gets minused the 20 points and the others get minused 10 points.
minusable offenses-backtracking,babbling while going to other dogs, leaving check area(determined by judge),skirting, not packing, disrupting the pack,over-running,leaving the check area not giving mouth to gain an advatage. All miuses are minus 10 and there are more than I stated.
lines are scored but any hound that is giving a line gets 10 points no matter the posisiton in the pack
After three minuses that hound is scratched and must be picked up.....

Speed is not the most important thing here but you have to have enough to keep up but a great check dog and line control dog and a jump dog will excell in this format.

This is how it is scored. also rabbit dont have to be seen to be produced.

Timmy J is correct on his description. it is very similar too ARHA PP.
