Dogs burn the track they brake down. Dog swings out hits the line burns it backwards forty yards. Dog has two minus already for backtracking. Do you minus him out or give him the win? Well i seen him get the win. Is there somthing wrong with this or is it me"? Judge said "dogs didnt run the track yet so it dosent count" WE seen the rabbit track in the snow there is no question it was backwards. Thanks for the input. p.s. this is arha formate

in trialing you will see things that judges might not be in position to see. i have been to trials over the years where myself and the gallery all saw a male former BB high hound run old lines popping off jerking the pack around then win. i once saw a 15 inch bitch run Harvey with pack in tow 200 yards up to the feet of the gallery and she ended up winning the trial she was also a BB high hound. as a judge there's nothing more embarrassing for something like this to happen. ** were the tracks in the snow you saw fresh? maybe the running sucked so bad this hound was about the only one who could even run? others not contributing at all maybe? every judge has their limit and sometimes figures the goods out weigh the bad maybe in their mind. these are only two of a number of bad things i saw and the judge are good judges just were not in the right place at that moment the fault happened. spo and lph 2 different scenarios both can be a beauty and beast with lph harder to sift through due to the larger number of hounds down. if you have good gallery marshals honest other marshals that know hounds can alert you of funky things that they might see or hounds standing around etc. you can then start looking or even consider what they seen in your analysis. personally like to see for myself but would listen. i have seen people politic to plant bad seed in judges mind. listen but come to your own conclusions based on your observations.

he had 1 minus for backtracking and he
was honouring another hound. and the snow
was in patches the only rule I seen in the field
that was broke was you giving the judge a hard
time cussing and fliping the middle finger to other
handelers. Plus the dog must be doing somthing
right because in his last 5 trials he has a 1st , three 2nds and a 5th
place and I'm happy to own him :D

Little Beagle I believe you forgot to mention a couple key points,1st No one ever seen the rabbit so how can you say it was fresh track? 2nd They had run two trials there earlier that day. My experience with hunting dogs is that they will HUNT!!! He was minused for once for barking off the lead strap and once for back tracking . He is a hunting gun dog that is also trialed. Do you want everyone to apologize because you don't have hunting dogs? Maybe cramming three beagles in a little crate in the trunk of your car has something to do with it. I don't know you personally but next time try to list all the facts!

my opinion no matter what format a dog that dont hunt, runs a deer,or backtracks should never win or place at any trial.

That's why we run PKC.....No BS it's AWESOME the rules are cut n dry and I'm saying this after I lost twice yesterday. My 14 month old pup scored 375+ and 0- and that was good enough for me and I went away smiling. It doesn't get any better IMO!!!!!!

I don't have a dog in this fight, but the comments above bring to light a common shortcoming of many judges regardless of format. What the hound did yesterday, last week last month or whenever, should have no bearing on today"s trial. To often hounds get judged on reputation , be it good or bad, and not his/her performance that given day.

i wasnt there but if iam correct you said he swung out and hit track not yet run and went backwards . rite if that is the case the rules in the book states back tracking has to be on allready forward progressed tracks . in other words allready ran. i am pretty sure because i ate crow on that same thing once . dont like how it is in rules but thats the rules. let me know if iam wrong. but i have judged a many casts. and try to make sure i know the rules . :D
