just was cureous what people thought they needed to be successfull in little pack also would like to hear how your dog that matches this description has done in the trials

you need a fast dog that runs to catch, but doesnt over run (can stop and turn on a dime), has a ton of hunt to get EVERY jump, will NOT run trash, never has an off place bark, handles like a dream, and if he does have an off day can still win any cast. if you have anything like this let me know. I would like to buy it...lol

A dog that's very quick to beat his/her packmates off the check.

a dog that isnt scared to cause problems and cut 50 yards of track at a time. when a dog opens the best dog should run over top of him giving mouth the whole way. world hunt material!

A pack of dogs or even just one that yours drew out with that keeps screwing up and creates lots of 15 second checks and your dog not pay any attention to them and pick up the checks. A good running pack with no 15 second checks will not score a point.
You need bad dogs to run with, not good ones.

I guess it depend alot on where you are located. In Michigan if you want to win in the Winter a good nose line control and jump power. In the spring that all changes.

A dog that can burn a track and will blast out of a check.

I agree 100% with everything u all have said....Has nothing to do with running bracing or soloing ur dogs all year long....has nothing to do with having competitive dogs and driving all over the country every weekend for 3/4 of the year....just show up with ur shot eater bring ur buddies and ur checkbook and LET'S GET IT ON!!!

Been said already, but a dog that jumps alot of rabbits has a real advantage. Also, a dog that takes at least 15 secs. to solve a check....lol. No credit is given for the dogs that keeps grabbing those 5 - 10 sec. checks! I think it is also helpful for a dog to claim a check real quick and explode out w/ it so there is no mistake who got the check. I have a good female that is 10 pts from LPRCH and has her first already, and while she is a very good rabbit dog, she takes an extra moment to open on a check that she has...and I know she has had checks taken away from her by other more aggresive, quick to open dogs.

Also, you need a bit of luck on your side....on a wide open races, I bet the judge is doing good to see 2/3 of the action, you got to hope he's there when your dogs gets the check. There is nothing more frustrating than to hear / see your dog get a check and inside you celebrate for a moment to then see the judge busting thru brush 100 yards away trying to get to the dogs. But, what can you say, that's the way it goes!

If you want to win in Little Pack you need good solid rabbit dogs that consistently run more rabbit than the other dogs in their casts. You also need to never make excuses for your dog, get rid of average dogs, and run and run and run. If you do this, you will win!
