I have a new beagle. He is AKC registered. I just bought him from his previous owner. I have filled out the paperwork (in my name) and sent it to the AKC. Can I enter this beagle in a AKC Field Trial before my papers come back as me being the owner? :?:

you will need the AKC registration paper to register for the trial. and if you want to enter before you get that just use the previous owner's registration because you need the date of birth the full registered name and the AKC registration number.Image

Yes, you can. Even though the papers will still be in the previous owner's name, the date the papers are signed over to you as owner is the date that you own the hound. Keep a copy of the papers for yourself til the new ones are issued because you will need that information to enter the dog ie: dog's name, registration #, date of birth, sire and dam, breeder and current owner (you). Good luck and welcome to the most fun you can have with a dog! PS: You have to give us a little time to check the board- hunting season's still open here!

Thanks guys. I'm going to my 1st trial next Sat.
I think it will be for slow hounds. Mine will get disqualified quick!
