I recently purchased a big male from one of my running buddies. I have sent the papers to AKC to have them transferred into my name. My question is this....can I run this male in AKC trials before I get the papers back, and if so, what owner name do I enter him under. I did make a copy of the papers before before I sent them in, so I have all of the info on him. Thanks.

you can go on akc website and check the status of your transaction. Well, it will tell you when it is complete. If nothing comes up when you put the akc number in then it is not completed yet. If it is complete then you can run the dog in your name wether you have the papers in hand or not. Here is the link to where you can check the status hope this helps.

From what I understand the points go to the dog no matter who owns it.

you HAVE to run the dog in your name as the owner, the transaction is
completed and you are the official owner as soon as your name is entered on
the transfer, you own the dog from the transfer date whether the paperwork
has been sent in or not
if the paper work has not been sent in by the date you run the dog in a trial
you have 7 days i believe after the dog has been entered to send the transfer into AKC

AKC uses two different terms "OWNER OF RECORD" and "ACTUAL OWNER". You are the "ACTUAL OWNER" and your name goes on the entry form. Some people will put P.I.P after their name meaning "Papers in process". George
