Making rules up as they go, they will never learn

A guy traveled all over to get points for hound of the year and they are telling him all the points he aquired from out of his region dont count. Is that how it is suppose to work

Yes that is how it works.You can be the national high point hound or the regional high point hound.National all points count and regional points only come from within that region.Not a miss understanding just the HOY rules and they can change year to year.

There needs to be a RULE in the RULEBOOK discribing how to win regional high point hound! They do not have this in their rulebook or on their website! Why have a rulebook then? I feel sorry for the man that traveled all over the place wasting his TIME and MONEY going to hunts thinking he was winning his region and then he finds out he was beat by a RULE that isnt in the RULEBOOK!

funny how that works, my hound finished second in east region, and i only went to five hunts. Heck I didn't even know they kept points by region, but thats my fault, need to know the rules.

It's not your fault Big Mike for not knowing the rules on reagional hound of the year because there is no rule in the rulebook or on their website. It's NKC/ARHA's fault!!!

i went to my first and last arha hunt (nkc) yesterday 2-7-10 when i asked to measure my dog they looked at me and said it didn't look
like she was over 15"s and mind you this was 6:15 a.m. still real good and dark i could have probably entered a mix breed of some kind and probably could have run it (just my thought).AKC rules!!!! maybe just a bad experience arha nightmare.

Only time measuring is mandatory in ARHA , is first time registration, pre certification , or if hounds size is challenged by another hunter at the stakes.

it was a first time registration.you just had to be there to know what i'm talking about!! the dog was not measured.

That stuff happens in every format not just NKC. Dont kid yourself. I have been to some AKC hunts, and saw 15 inch dogs in the 13's. I dont think it is fair to sling mud on a whole organization over your first hunt at 1 club. Plenty of clubs do things right by the rules.

Les,I agree with Mike its not fair to sling mud over 1 hunt.
I've been to several different formats and registrys and none are perfect,,But just because I didn't like the rules or my dogs didn't fit the format.
I don't get on here hate'n.
