Fuzz, I am new to this trial stuff so I need some help. This will be the first AKC trial that I have been to so what do I need to bring. My male dog is going to be around the 13 mark but he has never been measured. Also do I need to bring his AKC papers vet check papers?
Also he was born Aug. 3, 2007 so can I run him as a derby this year?
Thanks for all the help. Duane

Your dog is a 2009 derby, all you need is your akc papers, and a lead strap. Since he is a derby he can run in either licensed trials or derby trials. Bring a tie out chain with you so that you can tie your dog out while he is waiting.

Do you all think this will be a "big" trial as far as the number of dogs entered?I used to go to the Large Pack trials when I lived in New Hampshire.Been living here in Tennessee for the past 13 years but the only A.K.C.trials we have here is the U.B.G.F. and you know I can't go for that! Occasionally I will attend some of the A.R.H.A. Little Pack trials around here.Went to a couple of the Southern Large Pack trials and enjoyed the fellowship and running with the beaglers there.
Have always wanted to check out the Mid-West trials as I've heard many positive things in regards to the dogs, judging and those attending and am hoping that this"Super Bowl of Beagling"meets those expectations.Look forward to meeting fellow beaglers!

P.S. Anyone know for sure how long it will take to drive from Knoxville,Tn. up to Berea? I'm about 3 hours from Knoxville here in middle Tn. and i want to be sure to leave plenty of time to get there for entries.

Dana, it takes about 2 and 1/2 hours to reach the grounds from knoxville. I went to the trial grounds this weekend and the running should be great. I meet several people there on sat. that said they were going to run this weekend. This will be my first AKC trial and I hope that it is everything that I have heard also. One of the guys that I meet was "I think" the vice pres. of the Jessimine beagle club and he and his son was a great bunch of buys to talk to.
Hope you can make it up.
Duane

Actually there is a better way when you are coming south on I-75: Take exit 83 which is the 3rd Richmond exit. That will be Duncannon Lane. Turn left when you get to the end of the exit ramp off the interstate and go to the stop light by the gas station ( Cannon Corner ) and turn right onto US-421 / US-25 and go 1 mile and turn left at the split onto US-421 and go 3.2 miles to Hwy 3376 East just past Kingston Elementary School. Turn left onto Hwy 3376 and go two miles to clubhouse on right.
This exit just opened up last fall and you will get around the traffic in Richmond. Hope this helps all.
