Dont have all the details worked out just yet but this is it in a nut shell.

It is to put money back into the trialers pocket, it cost so much now days to do anything, it would be better to give money back insted of plastic trophy's.
These are all just numbers but I will do this to give you an idea of whats cooking.

40 opens, you pay a $25.00 entry fee to hunt, pay the first place dog 10% of the total 2nd place 9% and so on.

40 dogs at $25.00 = 1,000 so

1st @ 10% would make 100
2nd @ 9% would make 90
3rd @ 8% would make 80
4th @ 7% would make 70
all the way back to tenth would drop 10 bucks

then you have the champs just pay the top 3 dogs
20 champs at $25.00
1st @ 15% would make $75.00
2nd @ 13% would make $65.00
3rd @ 10% would make $50.00

Then the grands pay back top 3 dogs but pay them a little more, say there is only 5 grands, dip into your over all money and pay them a little better
1st @ 100.00
2nd @ 75.00
3rd @ 50.00.

That still left the club with $515.00 to either pay judges or to pay a little better pay outs, that would be totally up to the clubs on their pay out, I just think it would help the guys to put a little gas money back into their pockets, and for the big hunts this could turn into some pretty good money for the trialers.
All this is still in early stages just thot I would throw that out there to get a few comments on, I know there is going to be the comment, if money is involved cheating will only get worse, well if you get caught cheating you are banned for a year 2nd offence your out for good, and if you smell fish your just on probation.

I would rather just go with AKC but then what are you going to do with the guys that have hunted grade dogs for all these years, I dont think it is worth punishing them for not having AKC dogs.

Just for instance at the world hunt
500 opens @ $25.00
1st gets 1,250.00

200 champs @ $25.00
1st gets $500.00

80 grands @ $25.00
1st gets $2,500.00

I just see alot more money going into the hunters pockets. and the organization not getting rich off the average hunters.
We could recognize NKC, UKC, PKC, AKC registered dogs.
Any interest?

And keep up with a HOTY and have every club to take a certain percentage of their income from there year and turn it in and divide it up to the top ten placing dogs for the year all ten dogs will make money, not just 1.

how will you figure out which hounds are in which class?

I don't know about most guys, but it already costs me enough to get to a trial,and enter my dogs. I definetely can't afford to enter 3 dogs at $75. I think this will also cause a lot more controversy, and there would probably be A LOT more protesting going on. I didn't get into trialing to win money. I definetely would have to cut down how many hunts that I could go to. Trialing is supposed to be about fun and commaraderie, not the almighty dollar!

BlackRiver, just keep donateing to the NKC then, this may not be for everybody, like I said it is just in the thot process right now.

Here is another thot tho, how many people can have 3 dogs ready for a trial ?
I know when I was trialing I had a hard enough time keeping 2 tuned up and ready to go to a trial, this might be away to keep alot of junk out of the trials, just my own opinion tho.

If you guys really want to get serious, put in a claiming class, and advertise in the community in which the trials will be held.

We have a dog food company willing to sponsor 4 of the hunts at a 1,000 dollars a hunt so all 4 could be $1,000 added money.

I smell fish already. Just go PKC they already have hound and hunter format and also LP style format.

I've been to a few PKC hound and hunter. I really enjoyed them and would like to try their small pack format. The hunts I went to there was no cheating or complaining. If this format or another "money" format takes off I believe the club could lower the entry fee because more dogs will be entered, but that could take awhile. Goodluck Swing, I just wish I was close enough to help.

I like what you're saying swing, but the truth of the matter is, when money is involved, things get real bad real fast. You have a lot more and and most of the gets lost. Most of us are still in it to have fun and enjoy the company of other beaglers and their hounds, but when the almighty $$ gets thrown in, people get . I wish it wasn't so, but that seems to always be the way of it JMO

Had another sponsor jump on board, and if it works out the way it looks like it is going to the HOTY will win $10,000.00 the first year, things are looking up already, I will want to form some kind of a board to help run this thing so everyone will have input, and I would like to have people from all over so we could address everyones concerns, and what we could do to make it better for eveyone involved.

All I am going to say about the new sponsor is everyone ought to be driving a CHEVROLET!!!!!!!!!!

ur gonna have so big of a problem with fighting and threats being made against people and their hounds and also people stealing dogs out of peoples kennels and tie outs at trials because they are the one that keeps them out of the money...I goto joke around and shoot the bull and just get the chance to get away from alot of mess...and i dont goto win them all and i dont like it to much if i get cheated out of something but u just have to take the good with the bad and get over it...when it comes down to the dogs i just wanna have it in my mind that the people i ran against knew i was there and i kept them on their toes the whole cast or if i feel that i got cheated the people there watching knew whose dog was up in the top scores---but when u goto add money to anything u come out with nothing but mad folks usally...the UKC coonhound trials only have the luck with it as they do is cause its not judged by loses and pick ups...its done by game in the tree (or so ive heard-i havent been to one)

Swing you are like Martin Luther King "you have a dream" . You forgot one factor in this format . That being the human factor of course . If you think the cheating was bad over a $20.00 trophy , just imagine what it will be when you throw in some good money .
