I have been judging since about 1995 and to me the judging is the best I have seen it here in Michigan. Since I do not travel out of Michigan much I can not comment on other states, I have only been protested once and It was because I did not give score on a caught rabbit after time had expired, but not all handlers no the rules. I have ahard time keeping up I believe I do the best I can, but some times I may miss a call, though I believe that is part of judging, but belittling young judges should not be part of judging, instead try to help the young judges get better, beause our sport depends on them. Remember what we tell our young kids it is not about winning and lossing it is about having fun.

I agree..I will add to it..I have seen alot of younger judges around our home clubs doing a very fine job. I have also seen alot of people taking interest in helping judge and getting active. Jude went on a cast with me and did a fine job. Danell Mckinney and Kevin Newsom do a fine job....alot of young cats around here doing a good job..keep it up guys you deserve more praise than i can give ya.

Seem's like when some people's dog's do not place it is always be cause of the judging. I dont judge but I feel sorry for some of the judges that are trying to keep up with a good running pack. I dont care who you are you are not going to be able to keep up and score everything. All you can do is score what you see and be honest about it. If anyone has a Complaint about that they are a poor sportsmaqn and not realy the kind of people that you need in you'r club or at you'r hunts. Have trailed some and just been happy that my dog did not get picked up for something stupid. Don't get me wrong I like to win just don't see it as a life or death thing. If you have good dogs in good condition you'r wins will come. Takes Both plus a lot of luck for field trialing. No matter what the results shake the judges hand and think him for the job he done. All these complaints is the reason it is hard at times to get people to judge. We have enough problems with the animal rights people with out getting down on each other. This Sport is fun let us keep it that way. Win or lose be a good sportsman.

I feel the same.
If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
If you want to complain about judging you can do one of three things.
1. Go take your judges test, get licensed, and start judging.
2. Quit field trialing.
3. Shut up and enjoy the time in the field with the dogs, and be humbled that someone would go out and judge for you. If you have a problem, take it up with the judge then MOH.
