I guess this is a dumb question, but what is the runoff and what is at stake, does it affect HOF?

The top ten dogs in each class (open, champions, grands) that accumulate the highest points during the year run against one another (drawn out into two casts for each class) the day before the world. The winners of the two casts (in each class) then run against each other for $1000. The second place dog gets $500.
and yes it affects HOF. The high point hound (in each class) gets 10 points toward hall of fame. The second high point hound gets 5 pts. toward hof. Now when a dog wins the run-off it gets 5 points toward h.o.f. and the runner-up dog gets 2.5 pts towards its hof.
i hope this answers your questions...

Amanda, thanks for the info. I am a hobby beagler and never expect to be in such a position, but it's good to know what's going on. One reaso I asked is because of ol' Buzzsaw. I have seen him go from opens *run against and judged him, too) to where he is now and I was hoping that would help him toward Hall of Fame, if any hound ever was deserving, it is him. I have two of his offspring in my kennel.
