mouthy dog
dogs running rabbit it makes a sharp turn dogs over run.one dog in check never stopped barking I would'nt have known it was a check if I wasn't standing there and seen where it went. it only took a minute or two to pick up line and go on.does that dog get minus points? It was flat out the leader and could run well just never shut up but in check was not on line while barking. thanks Ken
I agree w/ BJK, in ARHA LP, I'd minus 10 for pulling other dogs out of check, if he did. Also, how far out of check were they?

Not sure, grey area I'd say. 20' or so is still pretty close, 100' is way out, especially if the judge saw where the rabbit cut and the lead dog led the other dogs out that far while barking the whole time.

To answer Big Al, I take the check and look at it like a drop of water falling in a bucket. The more time that passes ,the wider I allow my "check area" to become. And yes ,if he is pulling dogs out of the "check area" ,give the mouthy S.O.B. a minus every time he does it!

what format was this trial? The problem with the rules which is unavoidable is that everyones idea of how far a dog can reach is up to the judge. And thats the problem with open ended rules.UKC hunting beagle is the only format that I know of that takes interperatation out of the equasion and has clear rules that the handlers all abide by and vote on when there is a problem. Not bashing anyones game because I like some other formats just the way it is.Some judges in little pack would let that dog run and it would be ok,others would minus it.In progessive pack he'd be minus for sure.
