Need some help

I just moved back to Ky from Kansas. I've been around beagles all my life but not field trials. I like a good medium to med fast line control dog that hunts good. What format would be best for me to run in in Western KY. I prefer AKC and am familiar with the formats they run. But I understand if differs quite a bit from state to state. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
