was in a trial the other day wont say where had a young judge so i didnt say anything to him told his president tho so he wont get killed by those real serious trailers lol. my female was running a rabbit actually was put on the clock was the only dog that could run the rabbit for whatever reason ,,scenting was bad and she didnt look good doin it either lol. but she did take it about 75 yards or so so sometime during that time he either saw the rabbit or belived her and gave her a postive strike only reason we knew this cause it had past 5 minutes by a few more lol ..when she was broke down which was alotl took her like 5 or 6 minutes to go that far anothe rdog barked 1 TIME! the judge gave him a check i about fell out when i seen the score card because i thought her strike was it . i laughed and signed .. anybody ever heard of a 1 bark check l!

If the dog made forward progress I guess 1 bark would be enough to claim it. By the way you describe it, I doubt the dog made much progress tho.

I know what your saying, but some dogs may only bark once in 20 yards or more when fireing out of a check.

The only way I could see a 1 bark check being scored, would be bark 1 time and drive forward into a hole.

rule says that the dog that makes forward progess out of check gets check dont say how many times it barks.gray are in rule if scent conditions were bad the judge may have thought thats all the progress it could make. what im saying condition sometimes dictate the amount of progress necessary for a check.the only way i ever give one bark check if dog barks once an starts out of check an rest dogs fire out an go with him an continue to run track

All they have to do is give mouth and make forward progress. It doesn't matter if its a fast chop mouth dog that gives10 barks in 10 feet or a long squall or bawl that only comes out once in 20 feet, the check is claimed if forward progress is made.
BTW. I think you should have won red

if your dog was breaking down for 15 seconds then evertime she left making for progress she should have been awarded a check

hard to say progress was actually made. just because 1 dog barked and ran forward dont mean squat to me. if the others join in and produce rabbit again the that dog should be given the ck for sure. besides, that rabbit could have went anywhere if nobody seen the actaul line. how many times have you seen dogs overun at the trials when you were there watching where the rabbit has actaully gone and some of them just keep barking like they have it?

So to me it sounds like your female struck in 20 points and the other dog checked for 10 points and race was over. But you mention her 15 second break downs did she not make any forward progress by scoring checks? Where is the rest of the yardage? You mentioned the other dog for 20 yards. That would say she struck in for 55 yards? I am confused!!!

she ran it about 75b yards i guess hit and wait a bit hit agin but just kept doin it we finally seen the rabit after a while or so.after the one dog barked my female did put in with him and made another 2 or 3 barks then it shut off and he called dead track ..double i agree with u on wanting the dogs to go in with that dog and then go then i give a 1 bark check cause its goin/ hunter this is lp not pp.

the question was ask after the check was given was the hounds put back
in a check situation? just because a dog opens and makes forward progress you don't give him a check. now if you see the bunny it would be
hard not to give a check. if any dog as much as thought about going back
to where they had originally lost the rabbit i think i would think about a
minus for pulling dogs out of the check area. without seeing the rabbit i
think i would have to have confirmation from another hound that the track
was rabbit worthy. one bark that's getting pretty thin.
