SLADE,
ARHA-PROGRESSIVE PACK STYLE DOGS RUN MED.--MED. FAST, WITH INSIDE OUT CHECK WORK, GOOD LINE CONTROL.

ARHA-LITTLE PACK STYLE DOGS RUN MED. FAST TO FAST, QUICKER IN AND OUT CHECK WORK, MORE LENIENT IN LINE AND CHECK.

SPO IN MY AREA NORTH CAROLINA--FLAT MED. SPEED TO SLOWER STYLE. REALLY CLOSE CHECK WORK, REALLY, REALLY TIGHT LINE CONTROL.
AKC-MID WEST RUN A QUICKER OR FASTER STYLE DOG. LITTLE PACK STYLE DOGS COMPETE WELL IN MID-WEST STYLE.
SPO AND P-PACK CAN CROSS OVER IN SOME AREAS.
IN MY AREA MOST TIMES MY DOGS GET PICKED UP FOR RUNNING TOO MUCH RABBIT??????????

ARHA.COM AND YOU CAN READ THE PP-LP-BP-GP--RULES, AND REG'S.

GO CHECK THEM ALL OUT, AND FIND THE STYLE THAT BEST FITS YOUR DOG'S. YOU'LL MEET SOME GREAT FOLK'S, SEE SOME GREAT DOG'S, AND HAVE ALOT OF FUN, IF YOU DON'T ALLOW THE POLITICS TO GET TO YOU.

Hey James, have you ever ran any SPO? How did your dogs do? I judged one of your Grands last year in Dyersburg. I didn't know if you have ever put her in a SPO trial?

HEY MAN, HOW'S IT GOING ???

I HAVE RAN IN A FEW, BUT WAS PICKED UP FOR RUNNING TOO MUCH RABBIT. BUT I'M GOING TO GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY WITH ANOTHER DOG OR TWO. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY MAY DO WELL?????
JUST DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU GO---DOWN MY WAY MOST LIKE THEM VERY CONSERVATIVE.

Not sure about SPO that far north! I have HEARD they let them move a little faster and with a little less line control the farther north you go. Down south, SPO speed and style depends on the federation. Best I can tell, UBGF meshes the ARHA Gundog Pack; Deep South compares to Progressive Pack; Mid-west is most like Little Pack. Not perfect matches maybe but that puts you in the ballpark. I would try PP first - the worst that could happen is that your dog would get outfooted and none of the competitors would mind or give you grief about that. Heck, you might win! If by some STRANGE chance your hounds were too fast or minused out the first time, I would give Little Pack a try!!!!!!!!! Good Luck!

I would say a dog that could handle the front well in PBGA or NEBGF would do well in Pregressive Pack in my area. Not sure how they run over ur way, but its worth a shot.

I used to run little pack and progessive pack.In progresive pack the speed that the judge likes depends solely on what part of the country you are in.One of the best running dogs I ever saw Jeremy Stevens doulble trouble dog didnt get used at the regional hunt in Pa but won The everet morgon classic the same year. And that dog could burn but not blow the line. I run Ukc hunting beagle now and really like it. the performace pack seems like it will replace the arha progressive pack in time, less of a chance of getting hosed.Try one of the ukc formats

My brother owns a PP RCH that is a rabbit dog deluxe, he also runs this dog in SPO TRIAL "once" per year only because he gets a free entry one trial per year for being a club member. The dog has never been on the ground more then 5 minutes in any SPO Trial. TOOO FAAAASSSSTTT!!

You need to clarify what type of SPO format you are talking about. There are SPO formats from medium speeds to fast speeds depending on the association in which they run in and the area of the country.
