I am a little curious as to how you all are going to pick cast/hunt winners, with out any rules ? Do I smell the PP buddy system all over again, with different players ?

Big Mike. They have written rules on UKC website, and they are pretty much identical to the old style PP with the exception that the judges will be required to call out the scores while in the presence of majority of handlers or something like that. I think this format was designed to eliminate the possibility of buddy judging......the dogs should compete, not the handlers ;)

Best to you,
Randy

new format?

I think its goinng to be alot better then any system out there i wouldnt judge it on your first or second time i would run for a year or so untill the clubs and everyone gets it running smoothly.

I haven't seen anything about the titles. As an owner of UKC Grand Nite Champions, Squirrel Champions, and Hunting Beagle Champions who all made their titles in front of the whole cast with the game being seen by all, I would like to know how these dogs who do not have to show the correct game are going to be titled?
My beagle, Pedde, needs one more Champion of Champions win to be an UKC Dual Grand Champion beagle. I am cautiously optimistic he win be finished into a Dual Grand Champion. I would want his title to be completely seperate from other UKC titled beagles who won their Championship by rules where the correct game was not required to be seen. I believe there are some fundamental differences in the seperate rules and I don't want anyone to think Pedde is a "walkie talkie" beagle because of his titles.
What are the titles, especially in the Dual Grand Champion level, for beagles?

Dave, Speaking of titles. I see you have a dog you call Champion(1st place win) Lakeland's Daytime Kate. If the dog is a Champion of course it has a win, all Champions do......and the only way to get a win is be 1st.

My question is simply this.....Is Kate a Champion or a Champion in the making?

Take care,
Randy

BTW. Dont worry about your dogs titles......PP will be Certified Champions kept in a locked box of their own, wouldnt want them confused with the gun shy, me- tooers that may have made Champions running other dog at a hunt with 3 dogs entered  Hunt, jump, solo circle to the POP or no Championship!

Guys, are club runs and like the HH format. We like and are proud of our dogs. We are also one of those first 10 clubs that will be holding a PP hunt. Don't make it "this is better then that format" They are different, thats it, not better or worse. If you continue to call the HH format not as good or insinuate it's inferior or that it's champions aren't as good, then you'll end up insulting the very clubs and hunters you need to support the new format, which we plan on doing. Just my opinion, have a good day.

Hey Houndsound,
Dont take offense on any post directed to Redtick. From the looks of it Redtick has just made himself a target for controversy and any attack since he is so negative about everything and everybody elses hounds. Just take a look at his history of posts and hopefully you will not be offended at the comments directed toward him. Take care, Paul

DK.......Sorry if my post offended you or any of the other guys with HH dogs.

Redtick has constantly ran his mouth and put down every format of dog there is, except for his dogs. He should have known, and did know, there will be different titles. Redtick is just doing some chain yankin to stir things up, and it worked.

I feel safe in saying this.....there will be a lot of dogs out of HH that do just as good in PP.

I am really sorry if I offended any of you but I was just being truthful with my opinionated answer to Dave.........what can I say, I know I wouldnt make a good politician, lol.

Best to you all,
Randy

Kates official title according to the UKC Certificate of Honor I am looking at is CH LAKELAND'S DAYTIME KATE. This means she is a Show Champion. Frances Gail keep our records and is not here at the time I am writing this but she has a 1st place win and enough other wins to only need a 4th place win to finish as a Hunting Beagle Champion as well as a Show Champion. She is due to whelp soon and will be sucking pups during the Spring competition season, so I don't know if I can finish her this Spring. But, if you have any worries about her being a good rabbit dog, please click on the addy on my video clip thread I just posted on the Just Talking board. The clip only shows 1 circle, the movie I did on that day's hunt shows the 2 beagles circling the rabbit several more times. It will be on my new DVD Running The Beagles With Dave Haugh Volume III.
Thanks for asking, Wrongway.

This is just my personal opinion and I don't expect everyone to agree with it but I don't think the PP rules are as good or the winners of the different formats equally as good. If the beagles do not circle the rabbit and prove that they are indeed running a rabbit, they are NOT as good as a beagle that circles a rabbit and proves it. Again, that is just my opinion.

I will add that I don't see how some of the fast HH dogs I have seen can possibly be judged by a judge running behind the dogs? The HH dogs I see around this area are way too fast for a judge to possibly keep up with to be able to judge correctly. And, from what I have read on this board, the whole cast can choose to run with the dogs. I don't see what will keep the noise created from running behind the dogs from turning the rabbit causing lots and lots of needless checks. Little wonder the dogs on the PP format are not required to circle the rabbit. I do not see the formats as being equal in value or the same dogs winning in both formats. There are differences and the titles need to be different.
