From what I have been reading Progressive Pack is not doing real good. What are everybodys thoughts on the future of Little Pack goog or bad.

I think Little Pack is doing fine. The people at the trials seem to still be showing up in large numbers. I have a great time.
Good Luck!

In my opinion, most of PP problems is with its leadership. It wasnt to long ago LP was having some problems too. If the truth be known, the biggest problem with ARHA/NKC is that the owner doesnt care and he has(and wants) other people trying to run the registry for him. I really dont think he knows or cares of the day to day things that go on. Just my opinion.

I agree with Mr. Crabtree. As long as its fun I'll continue to run the little pack. There's too many great people that I know through field trails and the ones I haven't met yet to stop trialing.

I dont think this pp stuff has had any effect on Little Pack.
The Little Pack hunts I have been too have been great!
I am like the rest on this issue. As long as I am having fun I will contiue to run LP. When the fun stops so will I.
Just my thoughts, Jim

A lot of you guys have the same thoughts I have about Little Pack. I have meet a lot of really nice people at the trails. When it not fun to me anymore I will be done. I don't see that happening no time soon for me. The only problem I see is there is not a enough young people.

Without going into a lot of detail I will say this, in regards to PP & LP Trials. I have entered 15 PP trials and ended up in a dispute with a judge or protest situation in 10 or 11 of those trials. I have entered dogs in an equall amount of LP trials, and never had a reason to even question a judge.

You know if you think about it, this is really a good topic. I have been hearing the same thing about LP, how everything is still ok. I also believe this is true too. This post just makes it even more clear, that is the LEADERSHIP in PP is what is makeing PP go down hill. Its awful funny how its just PP with the problem. Jesse Duncan

I run LP and have fun with it.My opinion is it is at its peak and will dwindle because there are too few young people and hardcore gunhunters joining.I dont think a champion means anything in LP except for those that are running in it.A gunhunter wants a hound that will consistantly circle a rabbit, regardless of conditions.AKC Midwest and UKC champions mean a lot more to me without seeing the dog run.It seems LP has evolved into promoting a specific beagle that will consistantly overrun and have checks so a score can be made. Those are all my opinions. But it is a fact that a hound does not have to be a complete gundog to be a champion. It can lack hunt, ability to run a straight line, and ability to run in any condition and still score enough checks to champion out.I have judged champions that showed one or all of those traits. Before you call me Redtick let me say that I am convinced a complete gundog can champion out in LP.I like its format and method of scoring. All the negative that I listed would be completely avoided if you had to certify a champion like PP.....but I know it will never happen and I will continue to hear guys brag about a great check dog.Sell that dog to a gunhunter and he will shoot it in the head and say you dont know dogs.I have never even placed in a LP hunt(no dog power) but will continue to run in them and have fun.Hopefully someday I will have the dogs that can place and win getting it done the right way.I have seen them and hunted over them and that is my favorite. But I will never keep a LP champion that I would have to make excuses for over the gun.Just my 2 cents which is not worth a whole lot but you asked for it.

buckeye bob i 've run akc and lp. lp and nkc are all around better one reason being is you get scratched for off game .not aloud to cold trail all day.arha/nkc has the all around better set of rules .but the should make sure they can stand under agun, before making champion...freak of nature

Guys don't get on Bob. He was only giving his opinion which he is entitle to. As for me if my hound is not a gundog first. There is no need to feed it. I am with Bob about hound needing to be cretified to make champion.

Hey LaMarr,I have seen LP style dogs get it done right and like I said, that is my favorite style of hound. That is why I still go to LP hunts occasionaly and always have fun and always meet someone new that shares the same intrests I do.I would really enjoy running with you some day.To illustrate a point....I have a bluetick bitch that I would like to outcross and like what I hear about Bluebelly.....but it has nothing to do with him being a champion in LP.The only way I would breed to him is if I saw him run first.
Freak, you got me on the AKC.hound should be picked up immediately for running offgame and be reported like in LP.That is the one thing I totally disagree with in SPO.
BBPatch,thanks for getting it

I am hoping to get out a little this year, are any of you guys going to be at the new club in Holmseville in Feb.?I hope to bring something that wont embaress himself.

Bob is one of the most critical guys I have ever talked to or met on his hound, I respect bob for sticking totally to his guns and never selling out to a style of dog that he does like just to get a lp champion. I agree with bob on alot of his points I have seen alot of champions in lp lacking in a few areas, but I believe lp is strong right now and is not going any where in the near future and I still have fun at the hunts myself.
I think Bob has seen a dog that can git it done in all formats, so how is your scooter pup doing bob?
