That was good enuff for me. I dont know when Ill get to another AKC Trial, they are a long way away.Ive got 1 or 2 that may be able to do something, but Wurtland is 3.5 hours. Schumachers is about 5 hours. I liked the way things were handled better up there, and 10 times the game.

I personally prefer AKC trials but have ran UKC years ago and have been to a couple ARHA trials to watch. I don't need to slam another format to make myself feel good about my trial preference. All formats have good and bad attributes...but mostly good IMHO. Run in the format you like and don't let others take away your joy or sense of accomplishment.
Good luck to all. :check:

I think if you will look at the guys who have done both, and im talking about the guys who done well in both, the majority have picked AKC, I think that pretty well sums it up, I know if AKC trialing was closer here that would be the only format I would run in.

When I lived in New Hampshire I attended A.K.C.Large Pack on Hare trials and I can tell you that when they turn out as many as 40 or more dogs together and then spend the next 7-8 hours letting them run and whittling them down to the winners pack you better be sure you've got a "for real" dog with you if you expect him to stay down and place.
When I moved to Tn. I wanted to try the A.K.C. S.P.O. format but quickly found out that the only A.K.C. trials around here were run by the U.B.G.F. and the hounds I prefer "run way too much rabbit"LOL for those folks! The best alternative for my hounds has been A.R.H.A. Little Pack. as there have been 3-4 clubs fairly close by. Be that as it may,if I had an easy choice I would vote hands down for Mid-West Assoc. S.P.O. trials.I attended my first Mid-West trial this past Feb.up in Berea,Ky. [Jessamine County's "Super Bowl of Beagling"]
I thought the running grounds were excellant, quality of judges outstanding, quality of hounds very high and the fellowship and beagling knowledge of the other handlers made for a great way to spend the weekend.Other then the fact that the nearest Mid-West club is 4 hours away from me and most of them further than that I would trial A.K.C. Mid-West exclusively. Some of you guys probably drive alot further but I guess I'm spoiled as most of the clubs I've trialed at during my beagling tenure have all been about an hour away.
As far as which is the hardest to win in I can't say anything about U.K.C. as I've never been to one and don't know anything about them.Between A.K.C. and A.R.H.A. I 'd definetly say that A.K.C. is considerably harder to champion a dog out.Just look at the requirements.Three wins and 120 points with 1 pt for each dog entered for 1'st,half the points for each dog entered for 2'nd,1/3 the points for third and 1/4 for fourth compared to one win and 40 points for 1'st,30pts. for second and points awarded all the way to 10'th.A no brainer ????????????

Danny,
I may try to make it to a few. Ole Reject is a solid rabbit dog, but he aint near perfect. He has been in 1 made the 2nd series, but didnt get called back for the winners pack. He looked ok, but got what he deserved.

reject accomplished a lot in a short time,he obviously has that iron eagle consistency bred in him solid, plus i own his big sister, reject will be fine in akc,he will hit a hot streak and be a fc before ya know it
