who promotes the best all around RABBIT DAWG?????

rabbit dogs are pormoted by HUNTERS HUNTING WITH GUNDOGS...the dogs that consistantly bring the rabbit back to the gun as fast and efficiently as possible ..that is a rabbit dog...trials are just a way to show off wht ya got..formats i have a few hounds that have won and placed in akc ukc and nkc..that is what a true rabbit dog should be able to do..but regardless of wht format you are running there are always gonna be judges who dont like your dog or you or something ...also gonna be judges pushing for a buddies dog and there are gonna be guys that run 14 inch hounds in the 13 inch class and 16 inch hounds in the 15...a true hound should be able to compete against both classes regardless if it is 13 or 16 inches....i dont go to alot of trials anymore mainly just the big hunts...the biggest reason i go to these hunts is to hang out with old buddies meet new ones and listen to some good races and have a few bullets..when i quit caring about getting the screws put to me is when i started having the most fun..i enjoy visiting and shooting the bull and having a few beers with my buddies and if my hound happens to make it through all the polotics of trialing then that is great too...just my opinion guys..tracy skiles

.Then you run the lp hunts and some of the judgeing just sucks.I wish we had two judges with no affilation with any of the owners,handlers or dogs.

my question is this how could you run a hunt with 2 judges??? You figure if you only had 5 casts of dogs right theres 5 hours not counting travel time to and from spots.Also where could you find judges that know anything about judging when they are not affilated with owners handlers or dogs.Just dont see how its possible..Eventually one of those judges will be affilated with someone or a dog.. just a question.....???????

Meant 2 judges per cast sorry for the misunderstanding would like 3 per cast,but i know they are hard to find.Far as judges being affilated i believe all things are possible. I know and i'm sure you've seen favortism in some hunts.What does this kind of thing happen? Just a question?What format do you run? Looks like you have some good dogs

I just dont see where lp promotes the best dog when it is an any thing goes as far as getting to the front. I run lp and I hear guys saying they wished there dog would swing a lot more to get more checks. But in pp or akc midwest that is the dog that is picked up quickly.

I think each one can be picked apart if you really want to. I run LP ARAH and I have been to a few SPO trials. personaly I don't care if my dog is is the front all the time I just want them to get the job done right I have some that will reach a little and I have some that are very close working, when I run them together it seems to bring out the best in each hound. The question is who promotes the best rabbit dog? I think it depends on each person I have seen dogs that I didn't like that were FC, R CH, UKC CH, but each has there own style they like if everyone liked the same than this wouldn't even be a question. I just like to cut them loose and let them do what they were born to do. Make so beautiful music to my ears

I don't know of any of them that promotes the best rabbit dog they promote their trials and if you have a dog that fits then run in that format. I personally am a Rabbit Hunter first and I want a dog to "hunt" and if he don't he don't stay at my house and he must run the rabbit like he is suppose to by himself or with a pack. If you can't take your dog and go to the field and set down on a stump and let him or her find a rabbit and circle it then you don't have a rabbit dog. I don't have the best dogs in the country but they suit me and that is what that matters. It is hard to say some are promoting rabbit dogs when they run trials in pens and never expose dogs to off game. Also I prefer Progressive Pack because to be a champion a dog has to be certified that it can jump its own rabbit and circle it and be shot over to be sure it is not gun shy. But what suits you is what you should run in and have a good time doing it . Remember you buy the feed for your hounds and I don't and I buy the feed for mine and you don't. amen if a dog is gun shy why have it i dont care about the blood lines i was told by a older feller that deer runners and gunshy ness was passed on through the blood
