and useful tips and opinions from most that dont have a clue are now filtering down, this used to be tons of fun. Not anymore. I been screwed more times over the years than most people are old,I always had the option to quit going. I would sugggest this advice to several.

I would have to agree with Scott Green on those he named as good judges. I have gotten dogs from Forrest Kerns and work with him every day and we are really good friends. But there has been a few Saturdays when he has judged me and I have not won my cast nor did I need to. He judges the dog and the dog only.
A problem I see in AKC trials is the judges are announced before the hunt. So if my buddy is judging hunt A and someone else I don't really know is judging hunt B then most people would go to where their buddy is. I showed Tennessee Walking Horses for most of my life and they announce who the judge is a couple of months in advanced. And trainers would take trailer fulls of horses to the shows that their buddy was judging.
I have my judging license and have helped a few times. I am still learning and I if I make a mistake I want someone to tell me(nicely ). I am there to judge a cast of dogs not who has a dog in my cast.
flash,are your talking about the trial that was a yr or so ago that your tank dog and my hammer dog was in?if so,there was no rabbit ran in that cast,it went on hunting and handling and your dog and the other dog in the cast never got away from the judge.they both just walked along beside him.now if you were judging and two dogs stayed right beside of you and one kept getting away from you and hunting or you thought that it was hunting which dog would you pick?at our hunt this weekend in the finals of the opens one of our members and a good friend of mine had a young dog in the cast.two handlers started to run up with us,but the rest stayed back.i told them to go back with the other handlers.i don't care if the handlers stay close as long as they stay together.one of those handlers was the handler of the winning dog.kevin monroe's willie mo dog won the open's and my buddys dog got 2nd.one check is all that separated them.it was close enough that if i would have wanted to buddy judge i could have.90% of the time in every cast you have someone that thinks they got cheated.as far as the guy that said he got cheated bad in the opens because someone wanted a dog qualified,who was the judge and who was the handler?the judge may not have even been from our club.as of right now we don't have anymore hunt's this yr and if we do decide to have more and you(meaning anyone)feel that were a cheating club DON'T COME!!
Hey Mike if you haven't noticed I didn't attend any Jackson hunts for over a year . It used to be if there a Jackson hunt I was there . I really enjoyed coming to the hunts and spending time with my buddy Ogle he is so much fun. I thought just what you said Mike if you feel you have been cheated don't come back . Sometime you have a hunt I might leave my dogs at home and come to your hunt just to spend the day with Ogle . If you take a few minutes to look at the Jackson results for the last year check out the winners and see how many are Mike or Joe . Look at some other clubs and see that they aren't quite so lucky at them all of their wins come from Jackson . A fellow houndsman and I was talking about this the other day. We think that dogs should be be inducted into the HOF by a committee . The committee should review all of the hounds win slips . If a dog has alot of wins under one club or one judge they should be denied the HOF . Mike as for the hunt you was refering to that is the one I was speaking of . The way I saw it was 2 dogs hunting hard with the judge and your dog ????????? not to be seen . Maybe you guided the cast to a spot that didn't have a rabbit in it . If you see it different than me how about bringing ole hammer to a different club maybe we can run together in a cast and see who's is better . I am planning on going to Atlanta this weekend BRING IT ON .

well toney,let's look back at the hunt's like you said.our last hunt in the ch.'s was won by earl meades frank dog,the hunt before that danny vansickle's bandit dog,the hunt before that bobby angles duke dog,the hunt before that danny vansickles bandit dog,i believe the hunt before that was jeff alans striker dog,the hunt before that one jim mquire's dog's won i do believe.now let's look at those people,are any of them member's?NO!are there name's mike or joe?NO!i rest my case on that subject.now as far as the cast goes that you were talking about.most of the time,the judge and dog's were out of our sight.when we were up close,none of the dog's were hunting very good including mine.as far as taking you to a spot with no rabbit's that's a lie.the dog i was running is a good check dog and alway's does better with running.we used that spot every hunt until we lost it.matt elliot use to take a cast out there every time he judged.jim mquire has been in that spot in the final's and had running and WON!so has jeff alan and several others that are not from our club.now as far as the better dog.i don't own hammer anymore.andy canterbury does,he also owns duke,a full brother to him that happen's to be a GR RC.i'm sure if you give him a call he would come and meet you and bring ole hammer and duke and have a (friendly)little run with you and your ole bob tailed tank dog and whatever else you wanted to bring.his number is 740-418-2271,we don't have anything to hide.i'm not saying that tank isn't a good dog,but i'm not afraid to run what we have with him.if you would like to talk to me in person my number is 740-339-0518.
