Downtime:
I have been to the Mountain.Took good dogs.Got beat.Resolved to take better dogs the next time or at least dogs in better shape. It is never fun getting beat but if you get beat over there, you can bet it will be by their dogs and not by their pencils. You might also notice that some of those people that are in the hunt results also place often in big 5 hunts. I still remember the first time that most of them came down out of the mountains to a big hunt.(grand nationals 2003 Beaver dam ,Ky)I knew then that they were going to be hell on wheels to compete with.Well bred dogs that are in awesome condition that get run a hell of a lot. That is their secret.

I live two states away (North Carolina). I have been to US 23 Beagle club twice and won with an Open class dog we took both times. I have also lost casts there because I was beat by a better dog. Won or lost....I have always been welcomed and treated fair at US 23 Beagle Club. Thanks guys.

Congrats to all that won and placed.

I'm a state away and about a 5 hour drive from this club. Just from this post I think I'm going to attend the next hunt that rolls around here. I like how honest everyone is. NOT going to win (all though I would like to) I'm going just to see some good dogs and honest people at this club. Lynn could you please give me the date and time of the next hunt and if you think at this time of the year I could run the chance of getting a dog snake bit? Thanks a head of time for any help.

I thought it went, "Blink an eye so I know where to start."

downtime, you can't come onto this board and start attacking and accusing the long-time membership. They are long-time members for a reason -- they stay in good standing. They live and let live, enjoy the board, enjoy their dogs, let others enjoy their dogs...you get the drift. Read the guidelines here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=46194 in particular, this line:

"3. Do NOT make slanderous remarks or pick fights with other board members.

It's easy to be brave and bold behind a keyboard. I bet you wouldn't accuse or insinuate to these Pike Co boys face-to-face. They've dealt with much worse than you, but they are gentlemen so please keep it light. After all, their hunts don't take a dime out of your pocket or any sweat off your back. You may take this as a warning if you wish.

Carry on fellas. Congrats to the winners!

US23 Beagle Club,

I like the way you boys roll.

i havent heard of your club, but i have only been trialing for a few months.
and yet my friends the Wells an Cordells have school'ed me enough to know when you see the name BUZZSAW nuff said. mandy line me out on that real fast...LOL

Take care yall.
PS. Danggggg thats a 9 hour drive.
i'm like Perkins i'm not gona take a dog that far unless it will do really good, an right now i dont have one....LOL
but if ya'll are going to make it to Coon Island Beagle Club some time let me know. i plan on makeing most of their hunts.

Downtime it takes a dog too be mountain tuff to run on the side of a hill up there , i believe the reason for the results is thats the only boys that go to 23, they beat up on each other pretty regularly. Aint nobody cheating each other up there, give there club a try sometime.By the way judge a cast a do a little essay about judging in eastern ky. I would be interested too hear how well you kept up after going off a 200' highwall after em. Another piece of advice them hillbillys were raised where they run, they expect you too not miss anything score wise.Just remember its a long way to the top if ya wanna rock and roll in eastern ky.

Ur flat land cuz, Jimbo.

I have never ran at 23 beagle club but i met a lot of these guys and bought a few dogs from a couple of these guys they have all been HONEST and FRIENDLY. I have only been going to trials for a little over a year and these guys have helped me with a lot of questions I've had and I'm proud to call these guys my friends and any of these guys can judge my dogs anytime. Hope to see you all soon.

Stony I dont know if you have made it down that way yet but that whole country is high enough .As to the rest I just said those guys would'nt cheat ya. I didnt say they were nice guys.I ran with Perkins up on the mountain once in the rain.Later when leaving he started talking about " I sure hope we dont slide off this mountain as we're going down" this as I clutched the dash and looked at drops that were many hundreds of feet down.He seemed to be enjoying my terror more than any decent person would.
